Problems Since Downloading Updates

Options
Hi, I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this thread but wanted some advice from the technically minded out there please...AS I CERTAINLY AM NOT .....

I have been unable to download microsoft updates for a while but some "guiding light" on this board told me it was my anti virus Panda causing the problem and I downloaded a fix which resolved the problem. I have now downloaded all the up-to-date updates. I now have two problems.... Firstly, Panda keeps informing me that my computer is vunerable (my browser) and it should be updated and it takes me to the microsoft windows download site but as I have downloaded all the critical updates I can't see where I should be looking to download anything else to update my browser. Secondly, I cannot seem to view pages over a secure connection on several different sites, ie go through to checkout, it will not let me and I cannot sign in on a secure page to My EBAY although I can search EBAY. Can anybody suggest what I can do please to resolve these issues but in VERY BASIC TERMINOLOGY Please ... thank you very much in advance Mandy

  • Still having problems so I have printed off the instructions on how to get rid of the spyware but when I click on the link on how to boot to safe mode it doesn't come up. When I switched on my computer I immediately pressed F8 but nothing different happened it just came on as normal, should there be a different screen to show me I am in safe mode (sorry for being so thick it you can imagine what fun I am going to have trying to get rid of the spyware today)... thank you in advance Mandy

Safe Mode Tap F8 on PC start Up and from the beginning of start up not after a few moments straight away, just keep tapping the key, if this doesnt work you may have
to change the BIOS as your keyboard might not be recognised on start up.

So try tapping F8 on start up first, not just once a few times just to catch it.

Is your PC a laptop or a Desktop and are you using XP?
  • Thanks Intel ... my computer is a desktop and I am using XP..

Ok Try the tapping F8 thing again.. tap a few times dont worry.
  • Thanks again and again Intel.... will having Panda anti virus already installed on my computer interfere with the things I have been told to download for malware removal ie ccleaner, spybot, ad-aware etc ...

Pand is Antivirus Malware removal is different if you had Panda and Norton or Panda and AVG or Norton and Avast then that would cause a conflict.

Then all you would do is remove one from control panel add/remove programs.

    Just a quick thought, bildanto.

If tapping the F8 key during the boot up process still doesn't get you to safe mode try tapping the F5 key during boot up. Just a few times I have found some users say the F5 key works for them when F8 fails.
