Methods of Cancelling a Three Contract

Is it possible to cancel a Three contract in one of the Three stores? The contract was 'up' on the 4th December and therefore there is no minimum period to serve apart from the 30 days notice of intention to cancel (and PAC request).
The Indian call centre are useless and told me that all I needed to do was request my PAC and it would be valid for 30 days, and once used my contract would be cancelled. Somehow I don't believe that.
I was going to cancel by telephone and follow it up with a letter to 3 Customer Services at the following address:
3 Customer services
Hutchison 3G UK Ltd
PO Box 333
Glasgow
G2 9AG
... but then I thought: if I took the contract out in a store, is there anything from stopping me cancelling in store? Has anyone done so? It seems more secure to speak to someone in store rather than a call centre who will tell me anything to fob me off!

Do you need to keep your number ? if you do you need your pac. Once the network you give it to process's it, it ends your contract with 3.
If you just cancel you'll lose your existing number...0 -
Once the new company processes your PAC then like JON the call centre said it "should" cancel your contract but you need to double check it once you've done this otherwise you could end up still getting charged!
It's worth trying to get it instore though but i've noticed they seem to work independantly from the call centres so I'm not sure how helpful they'll be. To be honest if you are moving to a new company then let them deal with it for you, they usually bend over backwards to get your business!!
Three Executive office seems to be a better address to write to as i've never had a response when writing to the PO Box address and I heard that their letters get forwarded to the overseas call centre anyway
all the addresses and contacts are available on three complaintsMinds are like parachutes - they only function when open.
