If age isn't important, get a smiley face Transit.... cheap to run, spacious, reliable, fairly easy to fix.... insurance is cheap, and there's loads of them about.. don't get an LDV Pilot or Convoy... thirsty and uncomfortable.. the Vito makes a good small minibus, and Sprinters make a good big one.... sometimes Arriva sell off their old PSV minibuses... and they often come at quite nice prices if you can get one before the traders.... just remember to check the seating/tonnage and that your licence covers you.. our LEA had trouble the other year when a 23 year old teacher with a minibus permit drove a 4.5 ton Sprinter bus with 16 seats.. his licence only covered 12 seats and 3.5 tonnes....

    I love my Convoy!

Ours was a 17 seat when we got it and we took out seats to get it down to my legal limit (DH has a PSV). The insurance isn't too bad for a bus, either - just paid £460 fully comp for 2 drivers.

We have 5 kids and I gave up on people carriers - there really is not enough room to carry both people and luggage / shopping. I would advise getting a high-top if you do get a bus, it is annoying not being able to stand up fully in the back when putting kids in seats etc.

  • Anything under the kilt?? :D

  • Huh????

What planet are you from? Basically you would prefer, say, a Yaris built in Europe to a Yaris built in Japan?? Do you not know that (sadly) the quality of Japanese build is far better than European? Plus they hardly rust - due to lack of salt and lord knows what on our roads...

A Granvia is pretty much a Hiace in disguise. They are good and solid and very spacious and comfortable. Generally bought for travelling in ....

You are scaremongering.. better not buy any car - gosh it could be made anywhere. Lets face it, not many vehicles are made in UK these days, so they are all imports :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I recommend that you do not comment unless you know what you are talking about.

This was your reply because I'd said I didnt want an imported peoplecarrier. As i'd said although I didnt know what peoplecarrier was involved, I knew it was an import from Japan that was designed for city use.
You accused me of scaremongering and stated all cars were imports. Did you see the sun today? Quoting build figures for Nissan, Toyota and some other car firm? ALL built in the UK for the UK market. NOT imported.

Then theres the dont comment unless you know what your talking about part. That and a poor attempt at sarcasm.

So sorry If i'm expected to just agree with every comment made, leave my own opinions at the door and submit to anyone who's opinion differs from my own.

Point of interest, I stated I didnt want ANY peoplecarrier in my original post.

    But thanks for your input.

I have't read the other thread, so I apologise if this has been covered, but a lot of insurers will not cover private hire where the driver hasn't held a taxi badge for 12 months - so you may well find that your insurance costs fall if you get quotes from the market at your next renewal.

I'm not really sure I follow you....... bit of a ramble..

I wouldn't call a Granvia a people carrier - it is basically a Hiace van - it was your good self that went off on one and put a link about some weird import people carrier that was in an accident.

I just went along with it all for the hell of it...

Lighten up Buddy .. all you had to say was you didn't want a Granvia/Hiace - ok?

The vehicle involved in the motorway accident was not a Toyota it was a series one Mitsubishi L300 Delicia 4 X 4 town car basically an l300 van with 4wd and a posh interior.

You may find an LDV Maxus cheap and these are better than a Convoy they do around 30 mpg and are reasonably refined

Thanks for that. Now may be he may give me some slack.. unless he thinks a Hiace is a people carrier.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
