  • Huh????

What planet are you from? Basically you would prefer, say, a Yaris built in Europe to a Yaris built in Japan?? Do you not know that (sadly) the quality of Japanese build is far better than European? Plus they hardly rust - due to lack of salt and lord knows what on our roads...

A Granvia is pretty much a Hiace in disguise. They are good and solid and very spacious and comfortable. Generally bought for travelling in ....

You are scaremongering.. better not buy any car - gosh it could be made anywhere. Lets face it, not many vehicles are made in UK these days, so they are all imports :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I recommend that you do not comment unless you know what you are talking about.

Please follow your own advice. (know what your talking about)

A yaris is a yaris. A people carrier used to transfer people around cities in Japan at 40 MPH is exactly that also.

Heres one thing I found. Toyota states it's not suitable.

There was an incident on the M6 either earlier this year or late last year where two women in the car died after a crash.

The news item ended with the reporter saying "Toyota have issued a statement and said that this vehicle is not suitable for use on UK roads, and should not be imported."

So I ask you. What planet are YOU from. Someone disagrees with you so you go off on some rant?
I've had imported bikes, both my cars are imports. PARALLEL imports. like a yaris would be. THATS the difference.

Is the vehicle you've bought avaliable in the UK from new? No? So it's not a parallel import, it's a grey import. Insurance companies class these differently as well.

The article above about the 2 women is not the article i'm referring to either. The one I read about KILLED CHILDREN. It wont be MY children.

That vehicle is NOT a Granvia - hell I've not seen anything like it on our roads what is it?? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

A Granvia is a grey import yes. It is an excellent vehicle. I really do think that you are being very dramatic about all of this - that is what I object to!

You do a link that shows some odd vehicle and some quotes and now it would seem that all grey imports are death traps. All vehicles are death traps if they are not serviced, handled and driven in a responsible manner.

To condemn grey imports is ridiculous based on some story with a weird looking vehicle!

  • I probably will get slated for saying this but...

Have you looked at the new LDV's? They do a flexible transit-style hatchback thingy with up to 9 seats as well as some good cheap minibuses.

They were cheap new as they were heavily discounted, but second-hand ones are really good value and the dealers have slashed the prices recently. The warranty is really good too and they're ok to drive.

The older LDV's with the tranny engine do rust, but are easy to touch up and are just sooo simple to fix. They even have rack-and-pinion steering!

The i800 can be discounted because of your budget.

Of the rest the Vivaro will get you more VFM than the VWs and is the most car like to drive with car levels of comfort.

  • If age isn't important, get a smiley face Transit.... cheap to run, spacious, reliable, fairly easy to fix.... insurance is cheap, and there's loads of them about.. don't get an LDV Pilot or Convoy... thirsty and uncomfortable.. the Vito makes a good small minibus, and Sprinters make a good big one.... sometimes Arriva sell off their old PSV minibuses... and they often come at quite nice prices if you can get one before the traders.... just remember to check the seating/tonnage and that your licence covers you.. our LEA had trouble the other year when a 23 year old teacher with a minibus permit drove a 4.5 ton Sprinter bus with 16 seats.. his licence only covered 12 seats and 3.5 tonnes....

no true british brand! (probably made in taiwan)
