Lloyds TSB Internal Scoring

Hi OP,
I have a joint account with Lloyds with OH. OH also has a seperate current account and a savings account with them. OH's mum is an Asst Mgr at Lloyds and I was talking to her yesterday, and it turns out that OH is a Risk Rating 1 and I'm a Risk Rating 3. 1 is the best customer and 9 is the worst customer. I know that I used to be a 6 at one point. So at some point I have moved up the ladder so to speak.
I know that this isn't particularly relevant to you, but when I see OH mum later, I'll ask about the internal scoring and how one goes about improving it. I'll get back to you!

Thanks Sammy_Girl.
I'm guessing it's prob due to the fact that I haven't had the account long enough to warrant a relationship. 3/4 months is not a long time, but I have had a CC with them Amex one for over a year, so thought that would help.
Will see what you say and what Lloyds say on Dec 22nd. Will be interesting either way to see if there are ways to change the score as other banks have given such information out.0 -
Hi SparciaM,
One thing I'd suggest that you do is to go to another branch to enquire about it. Sometimes a branch may say yes to a thing and another branch says no.
I do not think you ned to have a 5 to get a Student Account. I have a friend who just opened the Student Account (did not bank with LTSB before), and I know when she opens the account, she wasn't even on the electoral roll etc.! And that time, she only has one current account (and that's all, no other credit accounts). So from that, I deduce that it shouldn't be that hard to get a Student Account from LTSB at all!
Good luck and update us on how things go.0 -
taless - where do you get your information from?
All applications are processed in the same way using the same applications giving the same result wherever you go to.0 -

This is just my speculation - the lady the OP spoke to maybe did not try and process the application correctly.
Previously, when the Airmiles Duo was initially launched, I wanted to change my Classic Credit Card to Airmiles Duo. I went to a branch, and the manager couldn't process it for me, he said he couldn't see an option for me to upgrade to Airmiles Duo, suggested that I go back on the 22th which is then my scoring will be updated. One day, while passing by another branch, I dropped in and asked is it true I can't change it? It was a small branch, so they gave me a paper form to fill in - and viola! My Airmiles Duo arrived a few days later.
This, together with various other experiences with Natwest and Halifax, made me have this view - when one branch says no, it isn't necessarily so, maybe you can try again elsewhere!
And also, I don't think you need that great a credit score to get a Student Account. I know many people, with no past relationship with LTSB, who get the Student Accounts very easily.0 -
I find the Lloyds internal score very strange. I have always been between 1 and 3. One month it went to 9 and tried them for a loan and was quoted 29 percent. I waited until another month passed and I went back down to 2 and a loan rate of 5.9 percent However I advise this was about 18 months ago.0

LTSB internal score is not a true interal score as in it only reflects the manner in which you do business with them. They have a data link to Experian and are "fed" a figure every month which is a composite score taken from all of the data on you credit report.
This could be why it changes like this, because Experian can be slow to update data and your balances are not up-to-date so you could be showing as more or less indebted than you truely are.0 -
