Hi
My son is based in Germany (in the Army). I understand you can buy phone cards for him to use and keep the cost of phoning home down. He has a UK mobile and a German mobile (T mobile I think).
Any suggestions for cutting the phone costs from Germany to UK?

Have a look at https://www.verivox.de who have excellent e-phone cards that can be bought online with a UK credit card. If calling from a fixed line the Mox cards are the best. There are also all sorts of options for mobiles (which I have not explored).0 -
Hi FF99
Thanks for that, will have a look.0 -
Quite a few German phone cards will have high tariffs for calling via 0800 numbers. It's worth trying to find one with a local area code number, or an 0800 number from other providers that isn't barred by T-mobile ...

I think there are some useful tariff options on T-mobile - either off-peak bundles, favourite number, or pay only the first minute or two - worth checking, if he hasn't already.
Is there any way he can use a landline, even for just incoming calls? Either you can call him with cheap calls providers, or he could use a callback service between the landlines, triggering the incoming call separately with the mobile ...0 -
