I have since received an email from the buyer advising she was unable to send the funds via the internet so called paypal to make the transaction. My paypal account has now been restricted as I dont have a credit card registered and am not verified although the money is not showing up in my account. The item is still listed on ebay too - very strange.
Paypal have emailed me to advise that an adviser may call ( due to European Union anti-money laundering regulations) but when I try to call them on the contact number provided I just get some useless options.
Your German wants you to end the auction early and sell them the bag for £950.
They offered to bank transfer you the money.
Bank transfer unlike paypal is a safe way to get paid, once it's in your account it's there for good.
When you insisted on paypal (why??) the German got confused and tried to phone paypal and pay with a card?
Paypal/ebay decided that you were trying to sell outside ebay and nuked your account?
You need to email the German and have them do a bank transfer, once the money has hit your account you can then end the auction (that's assuming you still have an ebay account by then) and send them the bag."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Bank transfer is LOADS safer than Paypal!
At least they can't do a chargeback a month down the line!:j30/7/10:j

So its safe if you just give your name, bank name, sort code and account number?
Meaning that they dont have any of your card details or your address?0

They could pay with bank transfer using a stolen card, then you post the item and the bank claw the money back from your account, so you have no money and no item.
I wouldn't touch this with anyone elses....Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

They would have your debit or credit card details to be able to do that though? They couldn't do that just with your bank account details.bank account details safe! sorry have to disagree, 3 months ago a high street store refunded me back for a faulty toy. Yesterday I saw on my statement that 3 months on they took back the refund!
The store said it's my banks fault, the bank said it's the stores fault and finally computer error! sorry but if someone like a trusted high street store can take money from my account after 3 months, no way would i give my details to someone I meet on ebay.
I would however be instinctively suspicious of anyone apparently willing to pay £950 for a bag without even trying to haggle.0

If they send the money via bank transfer it's a done deal.
There is no reason not to take bank transfer as a payment means.
Once the funds are in your bank they are there for good."Love you Dave Brooker! x"
