Beware of PLUMWORLD - no customer service

I bought a shower which I had fitted professionally. Second time it was used it broke.
I emailed them and the reply was - we do not do spares. Contact the manufacturer yourself.
I replied that I did not want a spare part as the shower was new. They refered me to the terms and conditions which state that any problems are refered to the maufacturer.
I thought that when I bought something my contract was with the shop and that they should deal with the manufacturer.
Their emails said - we do not have a phone nmber - it therefore impossible to talk to ANYONE
Thanks for reading - off to have a bath now
The PLUMBWORLD I dealt with is mail order, based in Worcester - just in case there is another one

I agree, one of their staff tried to make me feel an idiot - I walked out.0

From the trading standards site:
"I have just purchased a product that is faulty. Is it the manufacturer's responsibility to rectify any faults?"
The manufacturer will only have liability if the goods are covered by a guarantee, and then only if the guarantee covers the fault in question. The law considers that the seller of the goods is always liable for breaches of contract, such as goods being faulty, so, even if there is a guarantee, the seller must rectify the faults if you ask him/her to.
Inform the shop of their responsibility, if you don't have any joy, go to trading standards0 -
I have ordered bathroom stuff from several different Internet Shoping sites and have been happy with all of them except for Plumbworld. Plumbworld does not have a Telephone number you can use. In the future I would steer well clear of any Internet Shopping site that didn't have a phone number!
I had a problem with a "wall mountable" bath mixer tap. When my builder looked at it, it was clear that this was a deck mounted or false wall mounted unit. It was far too deep for partition or brick wall mounting. So the description on their webpage was misleading:

I have asked Plumbworld if I can return it but after 2 weeks I have had no response other than an auto-reply stating "We are not the type of company to ignore emails" etc.
I don't know what to do now? I hate companies like this!0 -
The company cannot deny responsibility or restrict people's statutory rights. The Sale of Goods Act makes the seller liable for any goods which are not of satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose or as described.
I would report this to Consumer Direct; they will normally inform the Trading Standards Service where the Plumbworld Head Office is based, as they should investigate this matter.0 -
I'll try that!0

did anyone have any success with their refunds/ replacements?
was going to order a towel radiator....any recent dealings with them?
thanks0 -
I've just emailed them with a query and had a prompt and helpful response. Of course, this is before I've actually bought anything, but maybe things have changed?0

we ordered a sink from them on 7/08 and had nothing but great service.!0

Well, I ordered shortly after my last post, and the delivery turned up, well wrapped, on Wednesday morning. Can't fault it.

It took weeks before I finally got a refund. The email system works fine for a one off simple query. Anything else and you're stuffed imo.
Edit: Forgive my cynical side rearing it's head but I've just noticed how old this thread is. Bit strange to have an 18 month old thread bumped by a newbie? pete.....do you work for plumbworld?Herman - MP for all!0
