    WRONG - You can get converters from the M$ website to load Works documents into Word and vice versa - I did it yesterday! The only problem is that Word does some more complicated things, so some features may not look right in Works.

    Works sometimes comes with Word as a cost option, so you may or may not have it. Wordpad uses a very basic subset of the Word functionality, so can read and write documents in Word format, but again it will not allow some of the more complicated features.

    If you just need to view the Word documents, the Word viewer mentioned elsewhere works fine. If you need to write documents in the Word format (.doc or .rtf), then you can use any number of packages. The free one with the most functionality is OpenOffice (mentioned elsewhere), and there are even websites that give you an online word processor...
