If you need any help with it, don't hesitate to get in touch.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Hey there,
first of all, big hugs for you - what a brave post :grouphug:

I know it seems so dark just now, but things will get easier. How is OH? Is he getting better? It's difficult to tell, the Doc's say it's still early days yet.

With regards to your SOA -
    - shouldn't OH be getting some sort of benefits as he can't work at the moment? As I replied to Sue above, this is being looked into.

    - I'm not sure how severe the stroke was, but if he is stable enough, can he do some work from home? Even a little on the computer or something? Unfortunately - the stroke has affected his right side - and he is right handed, he is still not able to write properly and has very little "tight grip" etc in it as yet.

    - Have you put in a claim to have your emergency tax overpayment returned to you? My new tax code (2009) arrived today - so I assume that the overpayment will be adjusted accordingly ?

    - Your electiricty is horrible, is there nothing that can be done about this at all? Alas, not until I can get back home to give them a meter reading (it's quite a trip) - however, they have said that once they've got that they will review the situation as they also think I've been overcharged due to estimated bills prior to the last reading and that some of it may have been charged at the new prices instead of the old. Therefore the amount owed may be different & monthly payments would be adjusted.

    - Why do you have 2 internet services? As we dont yet know how long we will be living here - I'm also having to cover Dads, as I need the internet for work. Once I know what is happening for sure - I can lose one of them.

    - Building insurance also seems high - have you shopped around? Building insurance includes Contents - but is slightly higher than some, due to location.

The sensible thing would be to sell/let the second home, but I understand if this is hard for you. Obviously something will have to be done with it in the future - I'm sure you don't need 2 houses! And it may as well be making you money rather than costing you it. The ideal situation (and my heartfelt intent) would be to keep both, and let one out - as I mentioned in my earlier post. However, neither are currently in a condition to let and the one that I would probably need to start with (due to needing the current PAYE job) is going to take a fair bit of money to get into shape.

Again, well done for posting - you have all our support :)

Thank you for your kind wishes.

That is about a weeks worth of typing for me

So no need to appologise for rambling:A

Are you reclaiming your bank charges? I was under the belief that this had been suspended for the time being ? I have got some to claim from a previous bank (and they're still trying it on - after I paid an extra interest payment which hit 2 months later, I asked if that was the final account and was told yes.... then 3 months later another interest charge appeared on the account - which I refused to pay (hadn't used the account for nearly a year at that point) and now they keep adding charges to it!

Not sure about the self employed things, but you paid tax and NI
but you might aswell check you are getting what you can

Have you callee the electric supplier and asked for a reduced repayment? See my reply to Nic25 above

Same with council tax - The council tax people wouldnt budge - has to be paid before the next tax year.

Also the APR's on the cards would really be helpful - Don't worry if they are just the monthly apr's - The only one I could actually find was the Mortgage one ! Cant even see any on my monthly statements.

there is a matmatical thing about 4 pages long to work it out:eek: but will give the number crunchers something to look at

The emotional support you can get from here is amazing (nice to see Mrs Dawn again)

    :A

    Thank you for your kindness.

Its worth getting your reclaim letters in

The APRS on your statements will probably only show the monthly APR

    Hi ,

You have certainly been through bad times just lately, the people on this board will help you, they are brilliant.

Are you caring for your husband????? if so I think you can get carers allowence.........have a look on the website and see. We are both of the third age, and I get attendance allowence for OH at the lower rate just now with an application for the higher rate in progress. Until we get a confirmed diagnosis they are hanging off........it would help us a great deal, it would mean I could get someone to come in and be with my OH whilst I go to visit a friend or go shopping without having to tear round flinging stuff in my basket and racing home, praying that he is ok.

You will get there in the end I am sure.
