Let us know how you get on. Although they will of course offer to repair it, so be ready to stand your ground.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.

Oh I will be, the repair option is out of the question here, "becuase it is an inconvenience to the buyer" lol. It would be as well becuase its my studying laptop and it would be an inconvenience for me not to have it:)

Im only 19 and they see me, they think they going walk over me but they are so going to have. I got the sales of goods act printed off with all the relevant bits highlighted to take with me:-)

Thanks for all your support, will be going in the morning, will post how I did later on the afternoon.

90 days replace or refund warranty.

everything you buy has a 90 day warranty on it
if it goes faulty within 90 days you can ask the retailer to replace the item or get a full refund.

  • I was using the laptop last night and it was fine, although, this morning the screen started to flicker. So I run Comet up, and they said I actually need to contact Acer, because its under their warranty.

But I told the girl on the phone that my contract was with Comet when I bought the laptop not Acer. I started to quote the sales of goods act and she seemed to stumble, but got a bit snotty and started to say, that its their 'policy' and acers 'policy' to send it off for diagnostics and repair. But I said its my rights under section 48 to get a replacement.

Im going leave it another week, to see how this laptop copes, if it does it much more I will be taking it in.

I really dont know how Im going to go about this in store becuase they going to throw all this policy stuff at me, can you help as to how I would work things.

It will also be under warranty with Acer for a year who will most likely have you send it back and have a new screen fitted as well as any other issues you have listed that are hardware based.

If it was after 6 months, I would contact Acer, but its not, which means that the fault was more than likely there when I bought the laptop, which means comet didnt conform to the sales of goods act, meaning i can get a repair, as long as it is not an inconvenience to the buyer, which it will be, which then means I can have refund or replacement.
