I've applied for an MBNA card in my own name (the other one is in DH's names but we're joint responsible for running it up, all our finances are joint no matter whose names they are in) so I applied for one in my own name. It's 0% for 13 months and I didn't get an outright "no", it said they are thinking about it and will let me have a decision soon so perhaps I might even get some more debt onto 0%Start Date: 27/11/2010

Hi IF!! Bit of a shocker on the MBNA (evil card) front. Sounds like you are getting it sorted though! 0% on any debt is a bonus - just keep an eye on the end date, don't wanna be hit by a nasty interest rate afterwards!
Keep up the good work! Nats xstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -

Hi IF, Hate Hate Hate MBNA, Theiving B*****D that they are, well got that off my chest. I probably think your doing the right thing the loan will be more managable and you will at least see it reducing and well done with the balance transfer.
Love sausage casserole always bulk it out with mushrooms and onions as well Yum Yum.0 -
Glad you've been feeling more positive.
It's painful that the interest added is more than the minimum payment! What a good way of ensuring "customers" stay in long term debt with all that interest each month added to their profits. That's how their business model works so well done on getting clear.
Hope you enjoyed your casserole. Do you like chickpeas? Or red kidney beans etc? I often use these as well as loads of carrots, parsnips and a tin of tomatoes to add bulk to sausage stew or other meat casseroles.
Also if I have any meat left from a roast I freeze it quick before my OH eats it every time he opens the fridge and bring it back as a meat stew with all the previously mentioned. Or food process it and add onion, breadcumbs and egg to make meat balls.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -
YAY - got a letter today from Scottish Widows (Mortgage) - my payment on 1st Feb will be £42.42 less than it was last month thanks to a 1% drop in interest rate!! I am now paying 2.34%. That will help me out in paying the £33 per month that I owe British Gas for the next three months, hope the mortgage rate stays as low as it is for a few months.
I've sent my loan papers off but have no idea when my payment will be? I think I filled in "28th" on the loan application but then again that one could have been the Halifax one I applied for? Is it likely they would have asked me when I want to pay? Either way, doesn't there have to be a certain amount of time between you receiving the loan, and them taking the first payment (or am I talking rubbish?).
Also forgot to add, Additions sent me a statement today. I have been choosing the interest opt out payment which I thought was over three months. Anyway they applied a discount code to my account which they missed off and I rang back about it, but that seems to have 'rejigged' my account, and I had owed £178 (they wanted £58 per month for this) and now I owe £90 and they want £30 per month - as it is interest free I am paying the lesser amount.Start Date: 27/11/2010

MBNA kept sending me letters telling me that I could do a balance transfer for 0% (even when I owed them £9k) so I am hoping that when the MBNA balance is clear, they will send me another letter with 0%, then I can transfer all my other credit card debts onto them for 12 months....
Casserole was lovely but there wasn't a right lot of it!! I should have bulked it out more. I don't mind chickpeas but never think of buying them so I will bear that in time for next time. I'm doing Slimming World though so I'll probably never eat a sausage again in my whole life until I die (or until I have lost 4st) - and knowing me, I think the former will come first LOL.
Leftover meat from a roast? What's that LOL - never leftover meat in this house, I always buy the smallest joint I can and there's never any leftover?
Turkey casserole today:
Diced Turkey Thigh (very cheap)
Carrots / onions
packet sauce mix
Mashed potatoes (not for me - red day)
Yorkshire Puddings.Start Date: 27/11/2010

Woohoo! Loan money came through today and Post office balance transfer money should have gone in, so that is £9600 paid off. This should leave a balance of £96.75 + £209.66 interest to be added = £ 306.41
Credit card debt is now:
Post Office - £2056 @ 0% for 12 months,
HSBC - £950 @ 14.9
MBNA - £306.41 @ 34.9%
Tesco 1 - 2750 @ 16.9
Tesco 2 - 2500 @ 16.9
So that is £6506 + £513 still to pay off HSBC overdraft, it's getting better.
Still haven't heard from MBNA as to whether I can have a credit cardStart Date: 27/11/2010
