Legal Direct Recoveries

  • Hi,

Legal Direct Recoveries will be a debt collection agency that Littlewoods use when your account goes into default and they have tried unsuccessfully to bring your payments back up to date.

If you have defaulted on your a/c in this way, then this will have an impact on your credit rating and you should obviously take steps to try and resolve this debt.

I think (most of) the examples on this thread are where the name Legal Direct is appearing incorrectly on your file. e.g. Littlewoods recently acquired the Empire book and your a/c will have transferred across to Littlewoods. In this instance you have incorrectly recieved an alert to say the a/c is now with Legal Direct when it should say Littlewoods. Don't worry, other lenders will not see this and it will not effect your credit rating. When your a/c gets updated by Littlewoods it should update to the correct name.
  • Legal Direct Recoveries registers the Littlewoods Account details.
A highly irregular and Illegal procedure.

Littlewoods is the only authorised Data Registrar in the matter.

Sadly this happened today to me.

I shall endeavour to talk to the respective legal departments on this matter on Tuesday.

Hopefully they will edit the details quickly with the correct information.

  • I have an account on my Equifax credit report that has always said Littlewoods flex account, it has no balance outstanding, no default, however overnight the name changed to Legal Direct Recoveries. I queried this with Equifax who told me I can submit an online dispute but they saw no reason to as the account is not detrimental as it shows no missed payments or bal outstanding. I'm not sure which way to go, should I just leave it, Littlewoods will not be updating the account as it is closed, or should I open an online dispute. Equifax are adamant that the account name will make no difference if I am credit checked as the account is up to date.Has any one any advice for me or experienced the same.

Just did a quick Google search for LEGAL DIRECT RECOVERIES & came up with this old thread. Just had the same as the OP - a new credit account on Equifax. Did anyone ever discover who they are?

They are part of the shop direct group that owns Littlewoods & are described as a "credit reporting & collection agency" so I guess they are who Littlewoods use to do their credit checks.

I had this legal direct appear on my credit report today and doing a google I came to this thread. I had little woods for a while but never bought anything and last month I ask the to close my account, so could this be for that reason. I noticed as seen below my credit limited on previous was £1250 and on NEW is £0 (highlighted in YELLOW), this is the only change. IS this ok and nothing to worry about?

Well i was looking for this company legal direct recoveries and too put the search in google and found this thread. This is a bit bizarre but i went through equifax to see my credit file and it has someone elses debt on my credit file and it is with this company. It was a few years ago so not sure if this company is around to get them to remove it. Now this is the bizarre bit, this other person has the same name as me, i know them as she is my ex sister in law and when she married my brother their name changed to the same as mine. And it has me linked with her old address thats how i know its her. However my brother has been divorced from this person for now about 12 years. Also on the electrol roll it has me being staying at her address for 5 years which i havent. So i dont really know what to do about this and what is baffling me is how her details got onto my credit file? Did anyone get any further about this company? I cant seem to find anything.

You need to go to equifax and get them to sort it out, I would say. As the debt is nothing to do with you, you should not have to concern yourself with contacting the company concerned. Equifax are responsible for the integrity of the data relating to identity, so it falls into their lap.

Just had the same search added. Recently tried to open an account with "Easy" part of shop direct/littlewoods. They did not fulfill the order and wrote to me saying I did not have a credit account. I told them I had simply ticked the easy pay box. It was far less hassle to pay by credit card than be bounced around non-thinking departments, half of whom appeared to have a non working computer system!. Simultaneously I received a letter telling me I had a £1500 credit limit. So they are in a mess and now this search, after shop direct has also searched. If any one has tried to sort this out and succeeeded please let us know
