Who????

I've just had an alert from Equifax to say 'Legal Direct Recoveries' have been added to my credit file - the alert says
"There have been changes to the following Credit Agreement in your credit file.
New Credit Agreement Summary New Information
Company Name LEGAL DIRECT RECOVERIES
Account Type Mail Order Agency
Account Number XXXXXXXXXX "
(the last four x's give part of an account number)
I've got a new report and there is nothing added to the Credit agreement section - who are they??? I've just opened a Grattan account and a Littlewoods account, and owe nothing at all.
I don't have any debts for any mail order companies????
In fact I'm not behiind with anything!!
Just sounds a worrying sounding company, I used to have debt, but paid it all off a few years ago and my report is starting to look fairly healthy (ish!)
can anyone help???
Edit: I've just looked through my new credit report and my Littlewoods Account has the same last 4 digits on the account number - but I don't owe them anything - in fact, the account was only opened last month and I bought an item which gave me a balance of £4, which I paid about a week ago!!

They may have done a credit check when you opened the account. Credit checks DO get added to your file whether you are accepted or not.0 -
Littlewoods did a credit check when I opened the account, and it shows as Littlewoods, but i'm pretty sure it is something to do with them as the last four digits on their info matches the last four digits on my credit ref. account number.......just sounds a stern sounding company really when I know I don't owe them anything!!!!!!!!

Hi, just got exactly the same through Equifax,
New Information, LEGAL DIRECT RECOVERIES, Mail Order Agency
Also on the same day is a deleted credit agreement for BARCLAYS CURRENT ACCOUNTS, but I've not closed my Barclays account that I've had for something like 15 years, and I don't recognise the last few digits of the account number they show !
Googling, Legal Direct Recoveries could be a debt collection agency, and there's reference to some scum/scam heavies who appear to try it on claiming you owe all kinds of money when you don't. Then again there's also reference to Littlewoods. I did have a Littlewoods account but not used it in years. I have signed up to Next though, but the last digits of the account number are nothing like the number I have for Next (though that's a customer number).
Should I be getting worried? I don't want bailiffs suddenly turning up, though I've had no letters or calls about it.0 -
Good grief, that's an old thread I started!!!

lol, yeah. Blame google
Actually, looking again at the references to a debt collection agency, it looks like they're talking about another company who has had the debt passed onto them by Legal Direct Recoveries. Seems like LDR are just a mail order company. Could be to do with Next then, just that the account number doesn't tie up.
Could it be that Littlewoods, Grattan, Next, et al, pass on the financial stuff to LDR, who "recover" the money by billing the customer or something? Though I just get a bill from Next and pay it online on their own web site with no mention of LDR.0 -
They are trying it on ! Do not ring them , it ,ll be a expensive number . Just write back , without adding to any of the details , no name ,no comformation of address , just use their referance number . Just say you have no knowlegde of this account ,and if they persist , you will be reporting them to TRADING Standards .0

No one's written to me though or asked me to ring a premium number.
It's just a new credit agreement listed on my Equifax credit report.0 -
I've just been alerted by Equifax that this LDR has made a change to my file. When I had a look, its recorded as a credit limit change. It can't be anything bad as its actually a limit increase, I just don't know who these people are - has anyone had much luck finding out?0

I too have just had a credit agreement added to my Equifax file by Legal Direct Recoveries. Then there is a deleted credit agreement with the same company.
I do not and never have had any debts and haven't used a mail order company for years. Well not one that has a catalogue. I have ordered stuff online, but always pay for it up front by credit card.
I have raised this with Equifax and have just had an email response from them saying it may be an older agreement and not something recent.
Just off to reply to them that I shouldn't have ANY credit agreement added to my file old or new!0 -
for me its my redcats/empire store account; moved to legal direct
i've asked shop direct why as i have no balance0
