  • The amount of CTC is based on income. The amounts posted above are maximum amounts.

    If you are entitled to WTC and CTC (even if you don't actually get any WTC) - then you start to lose tax credits when your income goes above £6420. 39p lost for every £1 income above 6420. The order of losing tax credits is WTC, WTC CHildcare then CTC.

    The 545 CTC family element only is paid up to income of £50,000 before it starts to be lost.

    If you get CTC (i.e. you are not entitled to WTC because you don't meet the conditions - not because your income is too high) then the threshold is £15575. Above that amount your tax credits are reduced again by 39p for every £1 income above the £15575.
