Do Not Switch Suppliers

I must admit ive had nothing but hastle from changing suppliers. The biggest hastle unfortunately is an address 100 yards from my house. The woman has the same forename as me, a similar surname, and more inportantly her meter is only 1 digit different from my meter. Her meter and my meter seems to be linked by Mpan/Mpas. I have tried to sort it out on numerous occasions but the best i can do is get the supplier to come out and actually check i have only one meter on my property.
I shant be changing again, unfortunately its too much like hard work. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The real point here is that many thousands of switches go through every year with no material issues - some fail for various reasons that are usually (rightly) laid at the door of the companies involved - the customer is not always blameless in these transactions though.
I'm not saying you're to blame for your own experience - but you've found out the difference between a cheap supplier and an inexpensive supplier. I certainly wouldn't let one experience put me off - mind you if I did I wouldn't have any telephone service at all because I've yet to experience a telephone company that can bill correctly, provide services to specification and process payments correctly all the time.
Energy supply is a similarly cut-throat business (some companies will cut your throat to make you pay more lol) and the low overheads lead to poor investment in the back office systems and processes that make it all tick..... which leads to poor customer experience.
'They' could try and make switching idiot-proof - but the long and short of it is that idiots are so ingenious that they'd surely find a way to circumvent the protection anyhow.
If you wish to pay more for your gas and electricity for an easier life (as you see it) then fine - I wouldn't trust British/Scottish Gas as far as I could throw them since they performed an illegal installation at my parents' house in 1974 (it was condemned by them as illegal subsequently - and they made noises about prosecuting the installer under the Gas Act - until it was pointed out that they in fact did the installation). There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
Nicely put, those who want to pay though the nose for their energy, can continue to do so!

I find it odd when I go onto u-switch, they never recommend the one you are with but if you make out you are with someone else, they do recommend the one you are with. Who do I believe? An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
More letters this week from both British Gas and Manweb.
More long futile phone calls to their call centres and customer services.
STILL NOT SORTED OUT.
I wish I had never started this.  :mad:0 -

Another Month has passed and despite more phone calls listening to recorded voices telling me how important my call is (for which I am paying) this mess is still not resolved.
If it ever does get resolved, I will never try to switch again, the short term benifit is just not worth the agrivation and raised blood pressure.
If you are thinking of switching, just make sure you are prepared for a lot of hassle for perhaps nothing.0 -

I am not seeking to dissuade anyone, just to advise them of possible problems, what they then do is up to them but at least they will have been warned that everything is not always sweetness and light.
You clearly prefer the head in the sand approach :shhh:
Well said !
I switched to npower and they put my DD up from £22 to £67.50 in one fell swoop ! And that's just electricity !
I am about to switch back.Peter0 -

But didn't you take Frans advice from the 24th Jan? I doubt it or it would no doubt have been sorted by now.
I'm beginning to wonder who's to blame here. I've never experienced problems and going by the posts I've read, there's no chosen few, more like the chosen thousands and the few are the ones finding difficulty.0 -

Just keep your smug OPINIONS to yourself.
I am reporting the FACTS, if you don't want to be warned of potential problems, then I could care less.0
