Utter twaddle, broadcasting will never, in the foreseeable future go to 1080p.
A gold plated HDMI Cable has no benefit over a standard one, it fits in to a nickel plated socket, so it could be argued that it is actually worse than a standard nickel plated cable.0 -

Do you agree that a gold plated optical cable is better than a normal one?0 -

Might be worth you reading this article from Cnet about HDMI cables before paying over the odds for one. I had an expensive cable to start with which I managed to damage when fitting new skirting boards, I bought a cheap one after that and haven't noticed any difference.

MSE seem to block links to CNET. You'll have to go to the website yourself and search for HDMI.Dave. :wave:0 -
did I see some test on the Gadget Show this year and their conclusion was that there was absolutely no difference..

You do need a high speed one though if going over 720p as my mate found out this week when it'd drop the picture for every 2 out of 3 seconds wehen using the blu-ray player at 1080p.0

Silver is a better conductor of electricity than gold. So is copper for that matter. The supposed advantage of gold connectors is that they don't tarnish.
Not that it makes any difference in an HDMI cable.0 -
So after firmly establishing that the signal is digital and there's no benefit in buying expensive cables, now it seems that there are fast and slow cables. Is it any wonder people get confused?!0
