Looking to buy a HDMI cable. Obviously, loads of different prices.
Is there any benefit in buying a gold plated cable to a silver one.
Any help or redirection to reasonably priced cable would be appreciated.

What's more important is whether it's a standard or high speed one. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. A standard one won't handle 1080p.0

Im going to be attaching a Virgin Digital box.
Do Virgin Media automatically provide HDMI cables with the V+ box?0 -

Not sure about Virgin Cable Receivers, sorry.;)
They may have info on their web site, if it says 1080i, then any reasonable quality standard HDMI Cable will do the trick.0 -
Virgin are coming round to install my v+ box today, they said they would supply the cable. In any case, almost any cable should do if you are only using a short length - I wouldn't bother spending more than £10.0

Yes they do."...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -
The engineers will have HDMI cables in their van, just act a bit niave and say you thought that one came with it if they don't automatically set it up with one and they should give you one. They set mine up with a scart initially because you need to change the output through the menu and it's default is scart.0

Basically, get a gold one if you want *even better* picture quality. It may be a bit more expensive now, but in the long run, when everything does migrate to 1080p instead of 720, you'll be ahead of the game.THE BIGGEST_MINT0

It's a digital signal over a short distance, there will be no degredation in signal quality..0 -
Might be worth you reading this article from Cnet about HDMI cables before paying over the odds for one. I had an expensive cable to start with which I managed to damage when fitting new skirting boards, I bought a cheap one after that and haven't noticed any difference.
