Hi guys
We have just had Dolphin round tonight to quote us for our very small ensuite.
He has gone off to do his paperwork, and will let us know the price... any ideas on how much roughly this sort of job would be. We want a quadrant cubicle, thermostatic shower, whb, loo and tiling etc..
Its hard to know who to trust and who can do a good job these days .

I would get at least one other quote fruitpie. Do you know anyone who has any work done recently? Nothing like a personal recommendation.0

Thanks economiser...have got a couple of "local companies" coming round..
Dolphin (nice guy) got back to us today, and their estimate is ...... 10 thousand pounds !!!! and thats with the January half price sale discount.....
Who in their right mind would pay 20 thousand for a refurb on a room, that you cant swing a cat in ... sorry cats ! :j0 -
Hi,
This is a 'Buyer Beware' message to anyone who deals with Dolphin.
We asked them to carry out a full installation - Cost £8,000
Agreement Date : 27th June 2004
Completion Date : 27th October 2004
When the garrantee ran out (even thought we had paid an extended warranty) they would not fix the crack tiles that ran accross the floor!
DON'T buy Dolphins Showers as they have cleverly incorporated a 'plastic' part which wears out and break very quickly and Yes, they bill you for it or tell you to claim on YOUR contetnts policy!!!
Ours broke within 14 months of normal usage!
The DO, contrary to their blurb, use sub contractors in which the ones they sent us knew nothing about the product. In fact, they took 2 gangs of contractors off our job as they screwed it all up.
In the end, they had to completley re-gut the room and do it all over again at our insistance and to make sure they did it right, we paid for an independant inspector to make sure they did!
If anyone wants to see evidence of shoddy work let me know and I'll email you the pictures!....You have to see it to believe it! They say a picture can say a thousand words!
So, let me say it again - BUYER BEWARE
It caused me/us a lot of trouble in terms of time and emotion, not to mention of course that we were unable to either wash or have a toilet for THREE WEEKS, ended up having to use the outlaws!!
I own five residential business and wanted to give them work - Valued approximatley £50,000 after they completed my home!
Thank GOD I discovered, although at my expense, how bad they really are!
Can you imagine the grief and expense I would have had otherwise!
One other thing....Dolphin, when complaining about their work, 'refer' you to a so-called 'independant' complaints service....In a word...FORGET IT as Dolphin 'subscribes' to them - You get it, right?!
Just in case I forget....If you need evidence of complaints for this companies practices...check them out on the web and look for county court judgements against them!
Don't say I never warned you!

The bloke who recently fitted our MFI bathroom also used to do work for Dolphin. We paid MFI £3500, the fitter said Dolphin products were very little better quality and they would have charged double.
Good luck in whatever you choose.0 -

Shame we can't insert images in here...

About 4 months ago I got a quote from Dolphin of around £8000 for a new bathroom. Far too expensive so I didn't accept. Last week I got a brochure through the door from them advertising "Half Price Summer Sale" so phoned them to make some enquiries and was assured it was a genuine sale with everything, including installation, half price. I made another appointment and yesterday their rep duly arrived and quoted £8000. I showed him the sale brochure I had but he said the price quoted WAS half price. So my little bathroom would actually cost £16000 outwith their so called summer sale. (I don't think so). False advertising or what. Incidentally, I have now also got quotes from local bathroom installers both around £4000.0

And you had to resurect a 3 year old post to tell us something we already knew?If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
