Hi All
I am at my friends at the moment and she is having a problem on the net. She can get on the internet of course as I am sending this message.
She can get on the internet and browse, but when it comes to downloading anything it freezes. We have just tried to do an online scan with one of the links from toxteth o'grady but when I started to click on McAfee a hand appeared intead of the arrow.
A pop up box also appears when first on line from INTEL, saying A website wants to have access to your computer allow or not allow.
Can anyone tell us what the problem is please.
Thanks

try this
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
- When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
- Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Then click Finish.
- MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
- On the Scanner tab:
- Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
- Then click on the Scan button.
- If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
- The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
- When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
- Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
- Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
- The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Hi All

So what an-virus, firewall etc. is installed on this PC? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hi Espresso
Norton is on but it won't go past 300 odd files, it freezes saying not responding. Browntoa just gave us a link which again once you put your cursor on the link a hand appears and won't allow access.
So we typed malware etc in search engine, did a scan and it found 1572 virus's. Wow. Said we had to pay around £28 for the package, so we just got rid.
Sorry Browntoa as above could not do what you suggested.0 -
that is a FALSE virus scan
For £28 you just install a program what will not stop the infection on the pc and download a whole load more crap
they must get someone else to download the files for them and put them on a CD or USB drive
under no circumtances should they carry out any secure transactions onlineEx forum ambassador

like this (not the current infection , but you can see the idea)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpySheriff
SpySheriff is malware that disguises itself as an anti-spyware program, in order to trick the owner of the infected computer to buy the program, by repeatedly informing them of false threats to their system.[1] SpySheriff often goes unnoticed by actual anti-spyware programs, and is difficult to remove from an infected computer.[2]Ex forum ambassador

if Malwarebytes will not run then look under All programs , then the Malwarebytes Directory for MBAM.exe and rename it to cleanmypc.exe by rightclicking on the file and selecting "rename"
then double click on the renamed fileEx forum ambassador

I have had a bit of bother lately with a one called "interval hehehe."
I think, touch wood, that I have got rid of it now.
But the worrying part is that it was trying to get me to purchase a microsoft anti-spyware program. I would not have thought that a reputable firm like microsoft would stoop to this but I can't see the point of anyone else trying to get you to buy a microsft product.
