HSBC have lost my application

I applied online on the 22nd of December, and got confirmation email.

Haven't heard anything so called them. On hold for 50 mins to be told they don't have record of my application.

Was told they will try to find it and advise me of in 7 - 10 days.

Has this happened to anyone else?

This has also been the worst ever experience to me. It took 8.5 weeks to receive card. They advised CL to be X amount, but it was in fact lower than that. Appalling CS. and in the end they messed up a BT. As soon as my 9mths 0% finishes I'll cancel the card.

    Good luck....

This appears to happen a lot with HSBC online applications.

I recommend applying at an HSBC branch for this card, it's more reliable and the application is processed much faster.

Just be warned that they might have already done a credit search, so if they find your application details and process them again you will get searched a second time.

Update: After being hold for about 10 mins with 1 holding music song.. apparently they have a hooge backlog, so even once you send back your app doesn't meant anything is gonna happen fast!!

Exactly one month has now passed since my initial on-line application (11th Dec), but I did receive a letter (dated 5th Dec 05) from them the other day returning my pay-slip and address confirmation and also that my application was still being considered, when two weeks earlier they had sent out the credit application forms saying my application had been accepted !!!

Seems like they have taken their customer service skills and letter writing skills or lack of them from ICICI !!

An update to my earlier post in this thread:-

Applied 11/12/05.............still waiting for a card so today rang them to see what their Jackanory was..........Bad start.....I'm now in India.............'Can you tell me what is delaying my application'?........Reply: No Sir Mr......... we are very busy, but rest assured your application is being dealt with as quickly as possible.........Can you tell me how far along the application trail my application has got ?..............No Sir Mr.......... I don't have access to that information or any other information about your application OK, can you put me through to somebody who can.......No Sir Mr............. Are you the application help line ?...............Yes Sir Mr.............. but I cannot give you any information about how far your application has progressed So, you can't tell me when I/m likely to get a card or the credit limit...or your name (to try and catch him out) ...........No Sir (it worked) Mr............but i can tell you your credit limit will be approx £6000 and you should call back if you still haven't received it within another 10 days !!!!!!!!........At that point I lost the will to live !!!!

HSBC - One of the worlds greatest DISORGANISATIONS - 43 days and still waiting...............

Question : What's the record for an Indian call centre repeating your surname in general conversation ?

excel1966.. i was on the phone for 18 mins to chase up my application, as you say... didn't actually find anything out!!! Just had to sit and wait.. I was going to chase them again a week later, but forgot. Lucky it turned up shortly after!!

All there call centers are in India aren't they? The person keep refering to me as my surname not my first name! VERY STRANGE!!! I've had to chase them since as they have done my BT (over paid!) wrong too! That was another 14min conversation on there nice 0870 number.

If you ever get bored ringing HSBC, try BT Techincal line for a change! lol :rotfl:
