Anglo Irish fixed rates down

A lot of negative threads about the Anglo Irish bank so this may not effect anybody on here :-)
They were paying 5.75% AER on 1 year fixed and 4.60% AER on a 2 year fixed - rates are now 5.00% & 4.20% respectively.
I posted my application off on Saturday with a note stapled to the application itself asking for a courtesy phone call to confirm the rate at 5.75% and also to let me know when my cheque was being presented. Needed to know this to transfer funds from a higher interest account to cover.
I hadn't heard from them so phoned today. Account opened at 5.75% and cheque presented yesterday. The girl I spoke to at Anglo Irish told me that she didn't think that the account opening staff would have phoned me as not procedure. I deduce that common courtesy and flexibility are therefore not procedure either.
Going to make a complaint - anyone know where I do this as the only complaint mechanism I can find is Anglo Irish Isle of Man.

Why would you think they have time to call everyone who asked? I think complaining is a little OTT to be honest - you got the rate you wanted after all!
In my opinion if you really are worried about stuff you should call them - to you it's one call, to them it could be hundreds!!0 -

LOL
I think you may have completely missed the point.
I already have an account open with them. This was a second account and they wouldn't accept a BACS or CHAPS payment - I had to send a cheque from my current account. I was requesting a simple phone call to confirm the rate and tell me when they were banking my cheque so that I could transfer funds to clear. Seems to me that customer service was lacking here and a complaint may help matters for others. As I said in the original post a lack of flexibility and courtesy - perhaps normal behaviour nowadays, a short time before the bank goes under and I lose all my money.PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

Got ya! I don't expect good customer service from anyone these days - that way I'm never disappointed, or incredibly happy when they do do something good
AI will be here to stay (although maybe not in the form they are now) so I would not worry about your money!0 -

If you can find another Bank that offers this service .... it would help your complaint ... as a CS comparison?
Unfortunately I don't think you will find any. In particular as all offering fixed rates have been inundated recently and have struggled with even the basics ..... let alone the frills you seem to find 'necessary'. I'm afraid (read all the recent threads on fixed term deposits) that knowing when to make the funds available is a tension that goes with this type of account, if you have to fund it with a cheque. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

Golly gosh j..c... Friend...this bank is worrying about its VERY existance and the staff about their jobs and livelihood ! And you expect them to remember to call you back !! If you were drowning in a peat bog would you remember all the niceties and formalities ?
Please look at latest posting on my thread. This bank is sinking FAST .0
