    Stop yer scaremongering :money:

Anglo Irish bank was nationalized by the Irish government over the weekend. Depositors won't now lose any funds unless the government itself goes bust. Shareholders, on the other hand, are screwed, hence the collapse in the share price. But that doesn't affect savers.

its a bit late for investors - they only have another 16c a share to lose. However, savers are as safe here as anywhere.

  • i'm sure i'll get shot to pieces but..... i got my fingers burnt with Icesave, at least it was guaranteed by financial services in uk who paid me out, forgive me but is Ireland any bigger than Iceland (financial clout wise?)
if Ireland goes bust, than there will be no payout from the UK for savers!!!!

Sorry Gwhiz our dear ostrich friend ...but A-I down again just before close of business. The share value is important as it values the bank, whoever owns it .
On this very forum there have been numerous postings querying whether Eire has the funds to bail out all the banks...... viz Iceland.
Other postings expressed concern that were the bank to fail, it might take some time to repay all the savers.
Clearly many people were and are worried. Best to keep an eye on things.

Share Price: 0.15 eurocents Bid: 0.14 Ask: 0.15 Change: -16.67%
[Euro 10 earlier this year ]
