it has a 2 jack (audio and video) output which leads to as red/yellow/white plug set up
if that makes sense,
i have then bought a red/yellow/white plug to scart lead and scarted it into the rear of my bedroom telly, grand cost of £4.99
hope that makes sense
cheers
Adamski
and last time they did go like hot cakes
my local Aldi sold 50 of the buggers in an amazing 50 minutes!!!!0 -
Hehe....your local store isn't Thamesmead, SE London is it
Sounds like the unit caters for basic composite video and 2 channel stereo sound via the RCA/PHONO connectors.... not great for quality but handy for plugging into older TV's and audio systems.
However it mentions DTS and Dolby Digital so I expect there is probably an optical out socket.... also for better quality video is there a SVHS connector somewhere?
Cheers0 -
I decided to buy one..... was queuing at 9am for the store to open
Not tried it yet but it is obviously very compact and in an expandable/collapsable bag.
I was the first to get one this morning but I soon had a queue of around 12 people standing behind me at the till asking for them...
When asked how many the store had the shop assistant did say "quite a few".0 -
I got one of these today too! Looks great, but can't use it yet cause its for Christmas ;D
Is it any good dfarry?0 -
Hi Lara... I haven't really used it much yet but so far it is very good. There are a few shortcomings but it's worth bearing in mind that this is one of the cheapest 7" portable DVD's that money can buy at the moment.... Here's a quick summary of my views so far.
(Also I saw a Philips PET700 player about two weeks ago (£190) so I am kinda comparing to that as well.
Pro's
Plays most types of discs (only had a problem with a UDF formatted DVD+RW with mp3's on it)
Excellent carry case... great for putting other things in the bottom like a camera
Good speaker sound (despite being tiny speakers)
Good volume when listening with headphones
Good brightness/contrast control
Not as small as the Philips but still very compact and I prefer how the battery fits on the bottom
Good menu system
Great remote control
Cons
Limited outputs, would have really liked SVHS out not just composite
Screen tends to look a bit fuzzy, like when you watch say a TV input using composite instead of say SVHS or Scart. However the more expensive was the same - maybe the screens are of such a lower resolution (or quality) that you get this.
Any other question please fire away

I bought one today as an xmas pressie for a loved one..... ???
Anyway thought I'd give it ao before I hand it over xmas day. Tried one of my dvd's and lo and behold it's not multi regional.....well the one I've got wasn't.
So a search came up with a hack.....and now its fine..
Just in case there are others out there...this hack works.....
1) Open the DVD Door, on remote press Setup, Right, Right, Right (that’s the arrows in the middle of remote)
2) Enter 9653,a service page will appear,
3) Use Up/Down Bottom to change region Codes
4) Set to 0 (zero) for multi-region

Cheers for the hack mate.... haven't tried a non region 2 disk yet but will duly change it to multi anyway
Do you use any DVD-+R discs?... how are you finding it?
see... http://forum.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Urgents;action=display;num=11019089050 -
It played the DVD-+R disc I put in ok.....it was the region 3 Terminator it had a problem with....no more tho !
I have a portable dvd player myself a panasonic ( a thing of beauty ) ! and I have to say the picture quality and sound is far better on that and I think that could be better.
However the loved one is not as picky as me and will, hopefully, not notice....... :-XThings to do today :

Any problems with -R's? - +R's seem to be the way to go though...at least with this unit anyway.
Which Panasonic do you have.... I'd be interested to compare specs and prices...
This Tevion is mainly for the kids...and to have access to many MP3's (on DVD) with some speakers... I can... with various other units do all this stuff but I wanted to have a single viewer/player to do the lot.....oh and I really like the case
As my own personal player I would have wanted SVHS out too...0 -
I put a DVD - R in....it played. However I didn't keep it for any length of time cos I just wanted to see if the machine was ok.
I have a panasonic DVD-LV60. I bought it about 3 years ago. The screen is 5'8''. Because of it's age it's limited on the discs it will accept....it will take the usual CD's VCD, ....however it states it will not play DVD -R. Thats not true it will cos I've played them. It wont accept photo CD.
I recognise it's limitations......but it has kept me happy on many a boring train/ plane journey. I will probably update in the new year....Things to do today :
