I recently got a new phone - Nokia 6300 on Vodafone.
When people send me a picture message I have received a text directing me to the Vodafone website to see the picture.
I have downloaded settings from Nokia website to set my phone up to receive these but it does not work. I can't send them either.
Can anyone point out where I am going wrong?
Thanks for any help.
Cheers

It sounds like you don't have the MMS element on your acc at the Voda end, so it's sending them to the website. Did you have picture messaging on the old phone ? If you didn't just call Voda and ask them to add MMS to your acc. You'll get a sim up date and after that all MMS's sent to you will come to the phone. The pnes alreday sent won't come through as once they get to the website thats the end of the line for them.
There's shouldn't be a charge for adding this to your acc....

Contacted vodafone and they are going to sort it out.
Thought I could do this myself but obviously not!
If they send you a phone capable of this why is it not all set up automatically?0 -

Well they should to be honest ! I thought perhaps it was a new phone with an old sim card but by the sound of it, it wasn't...
All acc's these days should have all those kinds of elements on to at the start, it's not that hard to make it automatic. . .0 -
I have exactly the same problem with the same handset and network.
I called Vodafone, because I thought MMS hadn't been setup. They sent out new OTA setting to my phone and confirmed that MMS was setup on my account. A friend tried resending an MMS after the new settings were applied and I experienced the same problem again.
Since this I have visited the Vodafone store to get the problem resolved. They were pretty useless and printed off setup instructions for me to put into the phone manually.
I've deleted all the settings on my phone and followed these printed instructions to the letter. I haven't tested them yet, because I don't get many MMS. In fact this thread has just reminded me to test them.My farts hospitalize small children0 -
From experience, majority of the networks require you to send a MMS first in order to have the MMS feature activated on the account. Even if your phone is MMS capable the network does not allow reception of MMS until the first MMS is sent from the phone.
Once you have downloaded the settings just send a MMS, even if it is just to yourself!
Hope this helps.0 -

For a test you can send an MMS (or a text) to your self. Just put your own number in the send to field and off it'll go. The network will process's it and send it back to you.
The plus is, it tests that you can send and receive in one go. . .0
