Uttoxeter is our favourite place because it is quiet and the town is gorgeous - takes about 2 hours to get there but we get the train because it is all part of the day if that makes sense!
We are about 20 mins from Chester but dont tend to go their too much anymore as it is so busy and I prefer National Hunt. I go for the racing rather than the social side and I find Chester has too many stag/hen/works parties!
Aintree is 30 mins from us and I love it there. The November meeting is good because it is much quieter and there is a few races over the National fences.
I went to Bangor for my 21st birthday!
We are going to try Ludlow this year funnily enough as it is one train from Crewe so fairly easy for us to get to without driving.
I really want to go to the Cheltenham Gold Cup meeting in a few years when the kids are older as we would have to stay over - thats my aim for when I am debt free. x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000
There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.0 -
hi there happy new year. you seem to have had some good and bad news so far, so at least it is in balance
ref the bank charges. if you are on benefits then they CAN'T take your money as bank charges, because this would leave you with less than the govt thinks you should live on. So I would ask for an immediate refund of the £310 at least on these grounds.
Good luck
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Cheers will try that approach, the prob is as I get DLA it takes me over the living threshold. Just waiting to hear back from them, so fingers crossed. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Theres loads of great stuff on your list.
Hobby Craft have lots of latch hook rug kits for a fiver. Get the smallest one possible. DD1 got one for christmas last year. She can't do it and I can only do it when I'm innebriated. If I try to figure out what I'm doing it all goes wrong.
Blackpool Illuminations is something I want to torture my two with. Yes its abysmally tacky and that why I love them so much. Every child should be made to eat fish and chips in a freezing cold car whilst attempting to see the sea through the rain and the howling gales before walking for miles and miles and gettting a ride back in the light up train.
Pontyscyllte Aquaduct (assume thats what you meant when you said Llangollen Viaduct) is 20 mins down the road from us. Pop in for a cuppa.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
That's a lovely list of things to do and I hope you achieve them all. They sound really interesting.0

You should get to Ludlow its a quiet little course, had some posh stands put in about 5 yrs ago, we went and Prince Charles was due to open it, but got snowed off. We go in the cheap section, basic but get a gd view of the course. DD loves betting, her 1st choice is has the rider got green, then 2nd we have to read the names out, shes had some gd winners and places, her best was 16 to 1.
Totally agree re Chester, only went once yrs ago for Ladies day and it was heaveing to many people there for the sake of saying I've been, give me a comfy spot, a gd bookie and a few winners and I'm happy xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Think may have to rethink the latch kit, dd seens one in Argos Tinkerbell, but at £30 too much to waste, and knowing me it would be across the floor in temper!
Oh you had me in stitches with the blackpool description........ , glad you spelt the Viaduct name, never mind me trying to pronounce it! I know they do a round robin trip from Llangollen, go by boat, back by bus, keep you to the cuppa, tea with one sugar....Im on a diet!! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

massive confession time
Yes I'm in debt, but have booked a holiday for Easter, taking dd to Tunisa, so exicted, and its on my 40th to do list.
Did it sort of mse way as mum put it on her credit card, shes got a 0% deal for 12 months and she suggested it, so couldnt really refuse..........think its a pick me up with everything that I have been through over the last 2 yrs with nxt dr, and how well I have picked myself up... its all in so at least all food, drink and snacks paid for. Have decided not to add to debt free total, as I've got a feeling that mum will help me out.
Shes giving us £250 towards spending money, apparently as her DLA goes in 4 weekly, one month a yr she gets a double payment, so she doesnt account for that in her budget, thats a massive help as it will pay for the safari trip and leave about £75 towards spending money.
So I have now got to work my backside off on reviews, and surveys, part of me says I shouldnt of accepted her offer, I should use every spare penny to throw at my debts, if it had of been just me then I would of gone down that line of saying thank you but no thank you, but its not dd fault that I got in such a mess, I live like a hermit most of the month, and thou dd doesnt go without, I just feel that if I dont do it now (with mums help), it would be another 4 yrs b4 I get there.
So when the weather improves it will be car boot time, and more months of living very frugal.xx

I think its a great idea. I know its not very DFW but everyone has still got to have things to enjoy and look forward to. With your Mum's help and your determination to raise money it'll be as DFW as possible and a great experience for you all.
Agree about the car boot and weather. Ive got loads of stuff to go that isnt really worth ebaying.:j0
