not bad but i have heard nothing but bad things about the celeron chips!Jesus said to him, "I am the way.The truth, and the life."

IMO those who complain about current Celeron CPUs are snobs. They are a perfectly decent CPU, they are cheaper than P4s, and performance is less. But they work well, and anyone wanting a PC for basic office / Internet use would be happy with a Celeron, as long as the memory is sufficient (same as P4s, would definitely upgrade the above to 512Mb min).0 -

Really? i've bought and sold a load of this type of machine, and i've been impressed with any i have used. Cheap (ish) machine given its wireless. Plenty good for internet access, and the odd word document.
I love dell laptops. Just bought a couple of 6000's which are my current low end favourite. Both with 1.4 chips.
And yes, i'd definitely get a memory upgrade - NOT from Dell - get the machine then buy the extra ram from https://www.crucial.com/uk0 -
can someone help,
I want a laptop that I can access the internet anywhere without wires. I would consider this laptop but is it what I require, sorry I dont really know anything about technology.0 -
I've been using a Celeron 2GHz (not Celeron-M) equipped laptop for 2 1/2 years now, and never had any issues with it! I do pretty much all of my uni work on it - and it's not just esssay writing - I have to do a lot of software development, and I also use it for editing and processing RAW files from my digital camera.
Basically, I'd have no problems in going for a Celeron processor, just as the person above me said
Just my 2p's worth

the 'anywhere' is the problem in your statement. this machine would be fine for wireless home use, but you would need broadband access at home, and a wireless router such as the netgear 834GT or 834G. Easy set up and decent instructions.
Wireless anywhere is a different (and more expensive) kettle of fish.0 -
You could get this from the business small section for £336, or with the 15.4 widescreen for £375 Additional memory ie 512 mb would cost about £36 from a well known source

Do laptops get much better for the money, not been impressed with the dell offers. Should i wait and see what comes next? How much would the wireless router be?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
