All you gardening angels are making me feel guilty as I really need to dig over the small veg patch we've got. It's still got last years carrots in which are fine and last years beetroots - can any knowledgeable bod tell me if they will still be OK or all woody and horrible?
Hope your shoulder starts improving soon Piq. Any news on the insurance for the house fixing?0 -

Lift one or two of them and cut them open and have a look or a munch - you will see if they are too woody cos they will look a bit fibourous - if not fibourous I would prob boil them up and make the beetroot into something for the freezer and the carrots into soup.
If they are woody though no point in boiling etc as no amount of cookin' is going to sort them out. Chuck em......sadlyTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

That was brave of you, I just feel a bit of a fraud about it really, I haven't sent off the consent form yet, so I could go for the full amount, but it's not very much more in total.
How long did it take after you refused their offer?

Mine was a bit complicated - they wrote back telling me that they agreed they had mis-sold, but giving a completely wrong figure that they reckoned they owed me - it's taken another good few letters since but they have finally now agreed a correct figure and I am just waiting for the money to drop into the bank. If there's not a great deal of difference then it might not be worth you fighting it - but if it was a good difference I'd say go for it.....honestly, I'm such a fence-sitter! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Too uncomfortable on the fence, the posts go places you really don't want them to...
It's only a couple of hundred pounds short, by my estimation (maths not being my strong suit - obviously) so I'm going to accept it and kill the A&L(MBNA) card, once and for all - 34.95% indeed, how very dare they :eek:Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Peanut Butter Cookies
makes about 24
2oz peanut butter
grated rind of 1/2 orange
2oz caster sugar
1 + 1/2 oz soft brown sugar
2oz butter
1 standard to medium egg
1 + 1/2 oz raisins
4oz self raising flour
Cream together the peanut butter, orange rind, sugars and butter until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg, add the raisins and stir in the flour to make a fairly firm dough.
Roll the dough into small balls about the size of a walnut and place well apart on an ungreased baking tray. Then dip a fork into a little flour and use it to press criss cross lines on each cookie (flattening them slightly).
Bake for 25 minutes at Gas 4/350F/180C until golden brown.

Oh hamster, they sound wonderful, I've got some peanut butter in the larder, think I might have to make them. They're good for you, right? peanuts are very healthy?
Do you have to wear a fetching little outfit to bake them in? I hope there's more than just the socks.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
