Dear ClipClop you can have an outburst if you need one! Bad days happen. I've had regular whinges on here and hamster over-emoticons himself....

Hi horsey peeps - and hamster!

Quick question to you knowledgeable folk -
Is 20 quid per person (inc 2 small children) reasonable for an hour trek? We're going away next week and was considering doing this but seems  as will be 80 quid for all of us.
These horse related activities don't seem very MSE - I'm starting to see what you are all up against!
    Thanks for looking

    Morning K2 - waving!!

I'm afraid twenty quid is fairly good for an hour of trekking. I imagine as small children are going that it will be a nice sedate ride, probably mainly walking. Have you all riden before?

I cannot think of anything to do with a horse that is cheap. Hence why you'll never see an SOA from me!

Do you think social services would be ok if I did that to the children and OH?

It'll be fine lucielle, remember, bag from the neck downwards....

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to make the horse wear a bag too. As long as his necessities were outside the bag....Think! no stable or grass stains....

    Thanks Piq
Minimal riding experience - I'm the only one that ever went regulalry and that was only for a short time when I was a child - about 200 years ago. DS1 went on a seaside donkey when he was tiny and loved it so would love to try it with them. Have to see how much is in the k2 exchequer when we get there I think.
Don't suppose upping your income could include selling horsey poo? Don't even know if it's the right sort of poo for gardens :rotfl:

It is the right sort of poo for the garden, it just needs to be rotted down! Don't think you could sell it round our way, folk just come and help themselves from the muckheap!

...and I'm not posting any of the Captain droppings to any of you!

    Hi All,

Can I join the "I'm so broke as I have horses" thread?

Most of my debt seems to be from having two horses. I have an old, retired nag (25 this year) and a younger (15!) mad Welshie.

I also have a 4x4 and Ifor plus have bought a small run around car for getting to work and back as couldn't afford to run the 4x4 each day cos of price of fuel.

It's not hard to see why I don't have any money and am in debt!!

My trailer had a wooden floor which I've just had to have replaced with an ali one, 4 new tyres and a window in the front - £1,071 - thank you very much!!

Please tell me I'm not alone in all this and other people would rather keep their nags and cope with the debt.....

Hello and welcome to the mad horse and friends thread - hamster's disappeared again, don't need him to get trampled by horses and women in breeches....

Ah yes, the debts.... certainly a lot of them are horse related. But I have decided, and stuck to, that I do not need new boots, breeches, rugs etc. I did have to buy a new saddle last year, but I did a lot of ebaying and paid for it outright - I was very proud of this minor achievement!

I am lucky enough to have access to a lorry for transporting the Captain and only have to pay for petrol. It is normally a group of use who use the lorry so the costs come down if we go for a group outing!

Not so much of the old nag please, the Captain is 24 going on 3, he'd love to be a field ornament, but is too boisterous to be retired yet. A welshie....hmmm, very opinionated?
