hard to work out just what you have...but I'll try
you have a wire with 1 red phono jack, 1 black phono jack, and, on the other end...a headphone jack (the bit that will fit in the PC)
if this is the case, you appear to have L+R out on the back of the player, do the phono jacks fit here if they do, you're sorted?!

Yes they do fit & I've plugged the other end into the pale blue socket at the back of the computer, is this the right one. I've downloaded Audacity. If I've connected it right do I just switch the tape on & open Audacity0

Thanks tony,sick parrot & ianian, it looks as though I've done it, with your help, I'm going to read thru Audacity & get things in some kind of order but at last I can put all my tapes I've gathered over the years onto cd.
Thank you so much, I won't need to spend out on one of those machines.
