Hi,
I have to go to an appeals tribunal at the beginning of February (7th) as I am appealing against the DWP stopping my Incapacity Benefit. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
I was just wondering if any of you guys had been to tribunal and if you had:
a) what questions you were asked
b) what it was like
I am dreading it, I dont see why I should be but I am!

If you have CFS and have a really bad day when you're due at the tribunal will you be able to attend? Have you discussed this with them in case you are too ill on the day to be able to do anything?0

That's very important: I have a friend who was asked to go to a meeting which was too early in the morning so he phoned to change it, which was difficult enough to begin with! Then he asked what would happen if he was too ill to attend, and he was told that his benefit would be stopped because you only get two chances, and changing the date used up one of them! Since then he's always put on his form that he can't get to meetings before mid-morning, so at least he has good grounds for changing the time if they send him an early appointment.Dora_the_Explorer wrote:If you have CFS and have a really bad day when you're due at the tribunal will you be able to attend? i sat in on an appeal for housing benefit at work. the appeals service will listen to both sides, yours and the dwp's, and will base their decision on what the law states and will be independant in their decision. they will ask any questions they deem relevant to either parties. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0

Did you go to appeal or anything? What happened?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
Do you have full backing of your hospital consultant? I have Lupus, FMS and some other stuff wrong with me. Its very important when claiming anything that they are kept informed of what you are doing. They are more than likely to contact them and if they are not aware how the illness effects you-they wont be able to give an up to date answer IYKWIM.
Just a thought.
Good Luck

Find a lawyer that specialises in cfs and benefit appeals , can cost a couple of bob but worth it.
Have you been diagnosed correctly with having cfs and not merely a gp , or self god forbid.Doctors, specialist letter would help.0
