I order meat and sausages from The Essex Pig Co (Jimmy's farm) and it has always been delicious. Not cheap but worth every penny for properly hung lovely dark meat. Supermarket meat doesn't compare. My last order was the winter warmer hamper and loads of sausages. In the hamper we had a leg of lamb which was the best lamb i have ever tasted. If I lived near Jimmys farm i would shop there all the time. The stuff comes really well packed too with icepacks in the box to keep it cool.I like how he treats his animals too so that is another reason i don't mind the extra money.:D

  • Ooh, I just ordered the Winter Warmer hamper which I couldn't afford last week. :D I'm going to plan the meals really, really carefully and eek it out as long as I can. I'm not going to use it for weekdays, but cook nice meals at the weekend. We can eat fish and veg for the weekdays to compensate. :)

I ordered Christmas fare from Caleyco a couple of years ago. The meat was good, but not any better than from Sainsbury's, M&S or Waitrose and was poor value at about twice the price.

Oh, I've only ever ordered once and I now get regular e-mails (I can't unsubscribe!), mail-shots through the door and even a phone call from Gillian Bell herself asking for this year's Christmas order.
  • I visited Jimmy's Farm in 2005 and the meat was superb. I bought some beef, lamb and pork. The chickens were so big, they had a sign saying 'Yes, these really are chickens!'. I spent over £100! :)
