How much would it cost to get a textured ceiling smoothed over?

Just a quick question I hope someone can give me a ballpark figure for. We've got horrible textured artex on our kitchen ceiling which I'd really like smoothed over. It's only a small kitchen, about 3m square at a guess. Do I need a plasterer to do this? Would really appreciate an approximate cost as I don't want to bother ringing around for quotes if it's more than we can afford! Thanks.
I think best just to knock this post on the head. The Op can't be arsed to phone up for quotes or thank anyone for taking the time to respond - almost as annoying as people who don't bother coming to quote.
Would be nice if the mod could remove this one lol.0 -

Had a patterned artex ceiling (30 m2) flattened for £165. Plasterer bonded and skimmed ceiling. He had to work around existing downlighters which were lowered. Its smooth as glass now. It was a full days work for him, he was very careful. Have had rooms done by him before and will use him again when its time to do other rooms.0
