I use a spoon of washpowder and the same of soda crystals (desert spoon size not overfilled) works on my mucky oiks clothes. Tablets, less than half a one usually. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I only ever use half what the instructions say and still get good results. There's only me and OH and nothing too mucky so I think I could go a bit less on an average load and still be OK. I originally did this on advice of nurse to help my ezcema, so it's better for your skin and cheaper, what's not to love. I've not tried soda crystals because I don't know how I'd react but lots of people swear by them. I'd have a bit of an experiment, the worse that can happen is that you'll have to wash something again.0

DS suffers from ezcema, it gets worse when he sweats...possibly wash powder leaching back onto skin. i double rinse and switched brands so reducing powder may help.Wins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320 -

i also use half of the reccomended amount - both for powder and fabric conitioner and there is no difference in the quality of the wash :T0

I do a mixture of half soda crystals & half washing powder in a plastic container and then use half the amount it says to on the washing powder  Much cheaper and I've noticed my dark jeans which can be stiff and itchy aren't itchy anymore!0
