Hi folks,
We've built a new tool, which we're calling the Mega Shopbot. It's aim is to help you find the web's cheapest price, by searching multiple internet shopping robots (shopbots) in just one click.
It still needs some polish, but we'd love your feedback, especially on any glitches you find when using it. If you do get any functional errors, it'd be fab if you can include what web browser you are using in your reply, as this will help our techie dudes fix them!
Here's just a few points to keep in mind when you are using it:
If you’re wondering why it opens in multiple windows, its because the nature of the info each presents is so different and there are so many variables it cant be categorized. Also sometimes the results have commercial sponsors in them, and we don’t want anyone to think those are MSE's.
Here is the link – hope you like it, please play with it give us suggestions etc, let us know bugs etc
Cheers

Here's just a few points to keep in mind when you are using it:
- There are going to be more shopbots added. Google Product Search, Moneysupermarket Shopping, Find DVD and Bookbrain are on the list to go in before this is launched properly in the weekly email. At the moment, they are just greyed out.
- We are considering adding a second set of sites, made up of Amazon and Play, which directly search those two sites as a way of benchmarking the price. What do you think - is it worth doing?

So far no results being returned by: https://www.media-pricer.co.uk on any book/dvd/cd searches I have done...
Lots of pop up windows isn't the most user friendly interface in the world (especially if, like me you block pop up windows...)
Pricerunner pop-up does not show prices... instead I have to click on "show prices" which is not that helpful... seems to be the case with everything I have searched for so far...
Pricerunner pops up as a blank webpage when searching for DVD's...
I will continue to have a play... using safari btw...0 -
Great idea.
Hate the fact there are so many windows opening though. Not very user friendly just because of that.
Edit: media-pricer not working for me either on a cd search. I.E7 btwHerman - MP for all!0 -
Searched for a DVD, out of four sites searched two came up with blank windows. Firefox.0

A great idea and setting play.com and amazon as benchmark price is excellent as they normally are cheapest and most popular sites to shop on. +great time to launch, just before Christmas, to get the best deal with the credit crunch...0
