Limited time broadband contract

HI, we live in the centre of York, and need to have a broadband connection all the advice seems good but is there a way of having broadband or indeed any internet connection without a bt phone line. I have no problem getting one i'ts just that we have no idea of how long we will be staying in our currennt house. Bt say there contract is for a minimum of 12 months. I suppose we could take it with us when we move(?) but it may be that we move into a shared house with an existing connection can anyone help me out.

if you dont have a bt line - you will be servely limited.... bt lines will also include the other companies that charge line rental (as they resell on the bt wholesale service) - such as talktalk, post office, etc... if they do a contract for less than 12 months get it - but I would have thought they too would want a minimum 12 months as well

The only other option would be using cable - but then they require a minimum 12 months broadband contract

If I were you, I would ask BT if you can move the contract to a shared address, if it already has a bt connection

Past experience with Telewest I've found if you move house within your 12 month contract then they will transfer you for free. However if you move to an address which does not have cable then they will cancel your contract without penalty.
