Now that FF3 allows most of the first post,(or all of it if a small amount of text), to be displayed when the mouse is hovered over the thread title, is there a way to increase the time this text is on screen for? As it only last 4-5 seconds at the moment, and in most cases does not allow sufficient time to read said text. Thanks

I also would like to know the answer to this question. It seems that the slightest mouse movement will refresh the text.

As far as I know, the forum software is actually using the windows tooltip text for this function.
Try using the mouse on another program that has tooltips and you'll see that they expire in the same amount of time.
There may be a magic fix somewhere - but for a bet it'll need to be a windows fix rather than an FF one or site software one.
The first item on line 7 here might do the trick...

I believe it is possible, but it would require alterations to the Fx3 codebase and then compiled by the user. There is ongoing discussions on whether this should be available to change within about:config or if they should autofade at all.
EDIT: The files requiring alteration within the source code are nsXULTooltipListener.cpp and nsXULTooltipListener.h

I've just tried it, done a reboot, and it doesn't seem to make any difference.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. It wouldn't make a difference; a tooltip is entirely different to a tray notification.2.66GHz Intel i7 920, Socket 1366 (B) Nehalem

If the OP is really needing this done then I'll try find my copy of visual studio (don't have it on this machine yet) and compile the source with changes to the auto-fade; probably won't be until after Christmas though.2.66GHz Intel i7 920, Socket 1366 (B) Nehalem

It's not critical, just thought if it was an easy enough fix for a technophobe then it would be worth doing

Yes I know that, but if it is a long 1st post,(yes I can go to the actual post!), you need to keep doing it
the OP may be using Firefox 3 on a Mac...
