Where does it all come from? I think someone must come into my house during the day and have a party lol. I have just done all the washing up, now I am cooking again and will have another mountain of washing up grrrr 3 pans and lids, a roasting tray, chopping board, gravy jug, and plates, cutlery and cups for 4 people.

Dishwasher was the first thing I bought with MY money when I started working after the 'post kids break' never regretted it once!

Servis did a survey, many years ago, and a time and motion study in the house.
Their finding was that you spend far more time at the kitchen sink than doing anything else around the house. So their conclusion was that the first main appliance that you should buy is a dishwasher.

Dishwashers are wonderful :j , would never be without one. Mine is a Bosch, about 8 years old and it has been really reliable; I'd recommend Bosch. Not that expensive, either, as I recall.
If I had a choice between George Clooney for the night or keeping my dishwasher, I know which would win...;)Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Can't delegate to the kids because they are only 6 and 3. OH washes up a couple of times a week, so can't moan there he could do nothing lol. I need a dishwasher just don't know where to put one...0

I don't wash up enough, I'm lazy lol but I know how you feel. There's only two of us yet somehow we go through so many plates and cutlery. I'm tempted to just keep two of everything and pack the rest away so I'm forced to wash it up  But a dishwasher sounds lovely, I hope one day I can get one.0

I would like to join the hate washing up club! I am happy to do any other task in the house but hate doing the washing up! It's perfectly pointless no sooner have you finished the washing up and it piles up again. I have asked Father Christmas for a dishwasher in the christmas sales.0

arrrrggggghhhhh nooooooooo I'd much rather wash up than empty the dishwasher, it's a horrible job and I hate it
And I like to clean up as I go along so that everything's always clean and tidy and I like to always have plenty of clean saucepans and plates 'n stuff. It's maddening when you want to use a certain thing RIGHT NOW and it's in the dishwasher waiting to be washed

I agree! :j
My best mate has a DW and I always argue with her that I could wash up faster than it takes her to load it and unload it. I don't actually mind washing up, it's often a welcome break from watching kids make a mess/listening to them screaming/fighting etc! I'm also not sure how clean they really get stuff, half the time when my BF unloads hers there are pans that need re-washing and also she puts the dishes in filthy wihout rinsing which cannot be good for it. Personally I have never felt the need for one, except as a good place to hide the dirty dishes rather than them lying around making my kitchen look messy!
I would love to know though, which is more economical? Heating water for washing and (at least I do this, don't know if everyone does) then running the hot tap over the dishes to rinse off the detergent or running the DW for a cycle (and probably doing twice as many dishes, I only have a tiny draining board and OH complains if there is too much "Kitchen Jenga" going on)?
If anyone knows I'd love to be enlightened!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500
