My daughter-in-law got a fabulous dress for £100 from a bridal shop in a sale. It had been £900, it is worth giving Bridal shops a look in as some have sale rails. Her dress was new and because xxxxx had a budget the kind lady there did alterations free. Good Luck for the wedding  I hope your quest for what you want goes well
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

We had a fairly cheap wedding - dress in a sale (around £100), DH's outfit from sale in Top Man, registry office ceremony, etc. I didn't intend to have a cake or a car, but my mum ended up getting those for me as a surprise. I didn't have flowers. Our rings were a matching pair from Argos. The invitations were printed out from my PC. My mum and a friend took the photos and my friend made up an album for us as a present, although I'd have been perfectly happy if she'd just given me the undeveloped film. We had the reception at home in our flat and prepared and cooked all the food ourselves. We told everyone we had invited that we didn't want any presents but it was a BYOB party and if they didn't bring a bottle we wouldn't let them in :).

I honestly didn't want all the hassle and fuss of a big wedding and I still have very happy memories of it over thirteen years later. It was all arranged in less than eleven weeks and I have absolutely no regrets, although I do occasionally wish I'd had a small posy of flowers to hide my tiny pot belly that shows in some of the photos :). I think the whole thing came in at under £800.00.

    Good luck with everything.

  • We had a pretty cheap wedding:

Married at his family church so free

Cake was made from cupcakes in a tower made by myself.

Dress i made from customising a cheaper dress with beautiful sari silk(£5 from local market).Though it was black velvet...turned out beautiful though.

Veil was a meter of dress net which i also prettied up myself.

Favours we used leftover net with chocolate coins in(bought in sale for pennies a bag) and prettied up with small roses and ribbons bought from ebay.

We made all the invites ourselves and made the order of service etc into scrolls tied with ribbon(cheap alternative to finding cards)

Its also a good idea to ask around family and friends and find out who is good at what...my sister in law made our flowers as our gift....photographer friend did the pics etc etc

Luckily we didnt pay for the flights to the states or our cheap wedding could have crumbled.
    Determined to be debt free.
  • For favours, look out in tesco they usually reduce their ready made favour boxes by 75% around this time of year so work out to £2.50 for 10.
Buy sugared almonds from an indian shop, they sell them for £5 a kg which is much cheaper then everywhere else aslo go on ebay, they also do cheap favours and if u have time order from ebay.com in the states, postage is dearer but everything is much cheaper there plus the exchange rate works in out favour!

For your wedding dress go to monsoon in the xmas sales and get something stunning but cheap from there and for bridesmaids too, also for bridesmaids you can have a look in oasis, check out their wesite as they are doin prom dresses really cheap at the moment, bought a silver one today from £120 to £17 for xmas party!! Have a look in new look too as their party dresses are all half price at the moment.

For the groom, if you have a next clearance store near you u shud pay them a visit on the 27th december, last year they were selling their £200 suits for £14!!

HTH if u need anymore advise or some websites where u can get cheap stuff pm me,im a wedding planner so have all the contacts! x

Oh, I'd forgotten about Monsoon. About six weeks after my wedding I found my perfect wedding dress in there :D.

Its not free, but we went to a wedding reception that was in a village hall where they got the local chinese takeaway to do buffet catering. It was a lot cheaper than a traditional wedding breakfast and was probaby the best reception we have been too. other than our own of course!!

I can offer you a free husband? :D
Congratulations to you both. I did my own favours, just bought some cheap almonds and made some little pouches from bits of materials & ribbon. Asda do good cakes too...you can get a fairly large square one & if you take a photo in of something (like you & your bf) then they put it on the cake made out of sugar paper & it looks really nice...£15. As for photo's, these can be expensive & some professional photographers tend to be too fussy & waste time. Try getting friend/family to do these if they are good with camera, & maybe friends/family can help with catering too! :) HTH.

As my sister and her hubby had lived together they didn't really have a wedding present list, so asked for help with the wedding as gifts. I made them the invites and wedding album, my bf took their photos, a friend made the cake, only one bridesmaid and she bought her own dress, my mum and dad bought her dress (which came from Debenhams so not expensive) and as they got married and had the reception in the same place, no need for wedding cars, or paying for 2 seperate venues.
