Hi Taxi
Sorry to have not been around on your thread much. I have finally caught up having read it over the weekend.
The thing that struck me was that you have done SO WELL with your debt busting, that maybe it took you a little while to realise that in a recession you aren't going to be able to maintain that pace, and then worried about it. So I think that it is a GOOD THING that you have let go of this a bit. Renovation work now is a good time to do it, as the prices should be keen and it keep a nother couple of people off the dole!
So that is a as MSE as it could be. There also comes a time when you do frugal living for a while, at whatever scale, that you HAVE to replace things or do without them completely...ie the tv's. I am sure you got them for a keen price, and I will only quietly mention freecycle as a possible alternative in future..lol
You have not panicked about the debts you have and buried your head in the sand. You have been proactive and got the LOB cards, which probably are the best way forward at this point. Though I agree with another poster, who mentioned that if you have a lot of empty credit cards then closing them down will have a positive effect on your credit score. So well done your for doing that too.
As you are SE anyway is there anyway you could fit in some mystery shopping? Ie whilst you are waiting for jobs (now you have the hand held thingy?), just a way of filling up the dead time?
I guess that is also why you have taken your signature off your posts, I was getting very confused as people kept on mentioning it but I couldn't see it lol.
Good luck going forward taxi

ps you have a pmI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi all....sorry haven't been about much.Have been pretty stressed out and making myself ill.
Will have to do the posts in a couple of lots as will probably lose them.
Waiting for Sky man but there's been a monumental !!!! up from them.He phoned last night to confirm that he's coming between 9-11 today so I asked him if it was normal to be sent only one viewing card.He said no and that we need to find out whether it's for the HD or Sky + box..so I thought I'd get one step ahead...turns out they don't know why I've got a card at all!!!!! and also that mine are waiting for a request to be sent...wnat the F *** is that all about....they have fired an e-mail to another department to see what is going on ...someone mentioned a ghost account being set up and it taking 14 days to sort out but they may be able to get that card activated on the main set...not good enough really as I've took the day off work(it's peeing down for the first day in a very long time so will be really busy as well)...will have to wait and see now what happens...will report back later on that one...

The story regarding DD and DGS..that's a long one but here goes a condensed version.
Turns out her LL is a drug dealing scum bag.He for whatever reason decided he wanted them out of the house..she has a tenancy agreement until end of july....he sent thugs intimidating her and my DGS and I do mean thugs!!!...he changed the locks and removed all her property from the house while she was out....obviously all this was illegal....
Took her to the council for help...they sent her to solicitor....solicitor threatened to get an injunction to have all property put back in and get her the keys back...LL gave her the new keys and put property back mostly damaged and a £1k fridge freezer missing and other stuff broken...thugs came round...also someone(probably sent around by LL) broke in via back door...DGS went upstairs to find junkie coming out of his room....junkie says he didn't think anyone lived there...called police....police said too dangerous to stay and to see council and solicitors on monday....monday and onwards council police no help as she has a tenancy and want her to stay there under threat .DD stays at sons house then....finds a flat...promised it and then that LL backs out.DD finds another flat and moves in this is sorted now..
DGS dad is waste of space was meant to take him for a month while she sorted somewhere to live but didn't show up...though his other nanna has had him for a few weekends so that's helped...0 -
DS being bi-polar became ill while DD and DGS were staying there...so not only was I running around trying to sort DD and DGS out ...I was sorting DS out....jsut about stopped him being readmitted to hospital.
You may wonder why DD and DGS couldn't stay here...I only have a small 2 bed terraced house...My other DD lives here..she works various hours between 6am and 11 pm...
Me and DH have the other room..he works nights and I work days....as lovely and scrumptious as he is (DGS not DH..lol)....nobody would get any sleep and DS had roomso was ideal....she was only looking at help with the rent deposit scheme not a council house by the way.Shes sorted now thankfully.
The bills are ticking along...normal payments at the moment.....but is going to be a struggle this month as I had a few weeks off dealing with the above.
Still waiting to get my decorating finished downstairs ..Crown have agreed to the price in principle but they need something off the decorator that he eventually put through the door yesterday...so that needs sending when I can get out.
Most of the stuff is in the loft but will get finished tomorrow and that's about it....probably missed loads but just going to have a brew now.0 -
Oh my god, Taxi, thats terrible. Your poor daughter! I had no idea that things like that still happened. I hope *someone* can help - but fancy the council saying she should stay there after all of that! Awful ....
EDIT - just seen your third post - when I had a brew in that situation, there'd probably be something else in it too. Hope something goes right in this situation soon...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi KC....the authorities are a real let down. They told her to keep a diary of the incidents all well and good but not a risk we could take...idiots the lot of them.0

Taxi, I just dont know what to say for the best, you have been hrough the ringer and back, that is disguisting of the authorities to let her down, and expect her to be in that situation, you dont need any more stress.
I know it sounds daft but if theres anything I can do just pm, the only option I can think of is hva you contacted the local couniciler and threatened the papers involvement, may get things moveing.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
