    Hi,

If you do decide to use SD remember that if you post it on a Friday, It won't get there until the MOnday.

    There is no weekend delivery.

    Incorrect.

It just costs more to get a guaranteed Saturday delivery, however many areas deliver SD items on a Saturday anyway.

sorry thats a nonsense.we deliver all SD items on Saturdays barring any staff shortages etc or closed businesses
  • Nice to see Royal Mail staff on here helping people.....I trust Royal Mail 100% and have never been let down and would never use anyone else.....
The media focus to much on bad points and not on the fact that the majority of postmen are honest and hard working and will go out of their way to make sure mail arrives safely and on time whatever the weather so I think £4.60 is a bargain and what gets me is people complain about the price of a stamp going up but who else could deliver from Landsend to John O Groats over night for 36p thats what I call a bargain.

Not in my experience, I have posted items by SD on a Friday and they have not arrived until Monday, but I was warned that it could happen.

well i'll put my experience vs yours ;)
i deal with city & rural deliveries and clear all but my saturday shut SD items every week barring as i said staff shortages, van break downs etc
in that scenario then the SG items become priority

    Yep, same here.

In the past i've had to pay the extra £2 to guarantee it gets there on the Saturday.

and your point? i dont get this
if RM on delivered SG you would be fine, yes?
you are warned on sending this on the friday, yes?
the fact RM actually delivers on a Saturday is a problem?
if it needs delivered on Saturday then you have to pay.
how much does a courier charge for a Saturday delivery?

I know someone who paid that extra and still the item failed to get delivered until the Monday morning! She was refunded, but that's not the point, it was an item that needed to be there on the Saturday (concert tickets) and Monday was too late as the concert was on the Sunday night.

perhaps the plane failed, van crashed/broke down/item got misdirected by a mis-scanned machine barcode(not tracking barcode)
honestly people need to understand millions of items handled mean there will be the odd failure
SD has a high success rate on quality of service

They do still use Royal Mail (had an item delivered today from Royal Mail that I ordered off Amazon). Larger items get sent by a courier like they have always done but now they use Home Delivery Network rather than DHL because they are cheaper.

They use City Link around here not HDN
