I totally agree with everything said on the previous page about friends who are Not In Debt. When I'm on here, I am so totally motivated to pay every single penny off my debts, but the second the computer goes off I end up buying shoes or curtains or driveways or chocolate. WHY?!

I think you did the right thing paying the money to the Egg loan - it's the one that you really want rid of, and the £400 saving a month when you do is fab!

  • The first interview is CV based, then it's a competency based question, then I meet the HR director!

The CV based interview is the easy part! The competency and HR director bit will be difficult to answer without sounded rigid and scripted.

I have similar friends, one particular git who decided to brag to everyone how he owns two houses and paid off his student loan with his credit card one day at the pub. We didn't speak to him for the rest of the day on that issue! Some people do not see sense and some just are plain rude. It's a matter of moving past it and finding your own support network to get you going!
 Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!

Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!

How do you amass £70k in a year?!

Taxi - If the people around me were in the same position, I would open up a bit but one of the reasons that I don't talk about our debt to others round me is because I absolutely KNOW their situations, and they just can't comprehend how bad or how difficult it is (or more importantly, how difficult it was at its worst). How can someone who has trust funds worth millions, and who can spend hundreds on wine, possibly understand what it is like to wonder where you are going to find this week's bus fare from? In a previous job, my pay was re-structured, meaning I earnt £200 less per month - disaster! I appealed it, but was simply told I must be living an extravagent lifestyle if I could not manage on what they were paying me (which was only £24k, so not massive!) and should therefore cut back a bit........that came from someone whose boys were at Harrow, who lived in "The Old Rectory" and who wouldn't know a tin of blue stripe baked beans if it came and hit him on the head! Who, out of the two of us, was living the "extravagent lifestyle" and I bet he didn't fund his on just £24k a year!

Etc......so, that's the reason we don't talk about it.....the children know exactly where we are though, and it has done them no harm at all - look at how involved they get in order to go skiing etc, and having paper rounds, learning to budget etc.....so no worries there about "brushing it under the carpet".

Anyway, moving on to today,........I have a client at 10, and the children are grading this afternoon for karate, so that is the afternoon taken care of. I can't see where I will be able to fit a run in, so will do that tomorrow.

    First, though, scratchcards........:D
