Ulp. I thought I was doing well with extending my walk around the block _pale_2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Rich on the running board says to do as much walking as possible - it only puts a third of the pressure on the feet that running does, but still provides strength and moves oxygen around......or something......so walking is the aim for this week......I may go and hunt out a pedometer this evening.....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. You should be dead proud of what you've acheived so far! Fabulous!! My daughter and I are planning to run the 5k race for life in June...i'm just not sure when I'm allowed to start training (I've not run since race for life last year!!) because of my op. Must look that up as I'll need as long as possible to train for it - several years probably wouldn't be enough!! xx0

Rich would say that walking is as important as running, so if you are unsure about running this early, why not get out for an hours brisk walk? The running then comes a lot easier because you have already got the basic strength that you need.
Why not head over to the running thread.......we don't bite!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Thanks Hypno...I might take a peep in there! I already walk the dogs for two hours every morning and we walk quite fast. I guess that will make it a bit easier for me when I start running. People think it won't be too hard because I run with my 9 year old but she's scarily good!!! xx0

Sorry you're having to take a week off running this week when it obviously means so much to you. You mention the skiing week but would that not still be keeping your fitness level up as its so strenuous maybe as strenous as running even?0

I have always done the RFL with my DD - who has always given me a run for my money.
Now, at 14 she is FAR FAR better than me......there is no way I could catch herSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Oh definitely - I ski hard and fast.......! But I also eat loads and loads when I am awayWhich slightly offsets the physical stuff! I must be the only person in the world who comes back heavier after a ski trip than they did when they start - everyone else I know comes home 5lbs lighter or something!!!
