Hello Campervanchick, where did you read about the £25,000? I've just spent ages looking through the website and various terms and conditions and I can't see any mention of any maximum balance at all.

Although I was sure it was £30,000 maximum maybe theres no limit at all now?

    Anybody else seen anything?

If you go here and look at the Online Saver, it mentions a £25,000 limit above which no interest is earned. The Direct ISA immediately below it makes no such mention of an upper limit. Any chance you were looking at the wrong product, campervanchick? :)
  • Absolutely, I will check. Thanks for checking it out for me. I couldn't understand why there would be such a limit. Major blonde moment I guess.

  • You're so right - thank you for looking at it for me. Am trying to delete the original message so as not to cause alarm. Thanks again to Masonic and Miserly Martin.

Thats alright. Good. So I can transfer all my ISAs to A&L then. By the way my first transfer went through quickly without a hitch and I only lost 1 day of interest!
  • By the way I just tried to take out an ISA for current year 2005-2006 and website told me it's too late to do it online. You have to do it in a branch! DOUBLE DRAT!!

How come? I thought there would be no loss of interest. Tha't what they all advertise. If you've accumulated a tidy sum, one day could be significant to obsessive moneysavers like me. I would begrudge a penny.

Yes but when they send the cheque from your old ISA provider to the new one theres a delay for it to get there in the post and it may also need clearing time.

My transfer from N&P to A&L was great only one day lost. But I've got a transfer from Coventry happening at the moment. Coventry sent me a letter on the 29th March saying they have sent the money to A&L, but A&L say they haven't got it yet!

    This is the problem!!

Do you think in this day of modern technology, they send the money by post?? Surely they use some form of electronic transfers!!!!
