Further to my earlier post.
There is a program called Navigator from Infomap (I think) at http://www.directions.ltd.uk/ that is a cross between TomTom and Autoroute so you get voice commands on your laptop. However I believe the resolution is lower than Autoroute, but has the re-planning side from TomTom
Most of the GPS nav programs only work on a PPC. If anyone has seen or tried it please let me know.
Another good site dealing with mobile GPS is http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/uksafetycameras.php . As well as being full of review and info there are discussion forums dealing with most issues and makes GPS and software. You can also download the speed camera, sorry safety camera database from them.0 -

Ebay ones from the Far East go for around £30 plus P and P which can bump them up a bit, they can be sourced from UK for about £60 to £700
