Resizing Pictures to fit multi frame mount

I've got a new canon pixma mp610 printer, it seems really good but I want to fill a frame which is one of those that has lots of little different sized pictures, the smallest picture would fit a tiny square about 1.5 inches square.

Thing is looking at the software which seems good but I don't think it covers that kind of thing, it allows you to choose the size of paper and split it into halves quarters ect but not resize first as far as I can see.

I used to have some software on a pc I had before with which I could choose the picture and just put in the exact measurement in centimeters and it would resize it. Then I could see in a little window a view the a4 or whatever size sheet I was going to use and manover the resized picture within it so it would be exactly where I wanted it tio be so I could then put other pictures in whatever room was left and eventually fill the whole sheet with pictures before printing it so it didnt waste photo paper.

I don''t seem to have any of that software on this pc what is the best for this kind of thing please?
Thanx

Thankyou, its just I really wanted something more permanent than an online one plus I don't really like the idea of doing photos through an online thing.

I have found I have microsoft office photo editor but that doesnt really do it properly, there is no layout facility and the resizing is in pixels not milimeters so its not really suitable it doesnt have page layout either.

I also have paint program and that adjusts the margins around the image on the page layout but you cant choose the right size of the picture. I made all kinds of sizes with the program I used to have so I don't know what that was. Is there anything like that now?
    Thanx

  • That sounds something like Paint Shop Pro, I know I can do that in there. Resize but lock aspect ratio to keep the same proportions (so the pic isn't distorted), then click and drag the pics to a template ready to print. I have version 11 but you could probably pick up an old version really cheaply if it was the one you used to have (versions 7 and 9 get my vote as I've used them both)

  • No unfortunately, but there is a version 7 on ebay at the mo (item no 260324486569), ending in 16 hours and the current price is £5.15, just to give an idea of how cheaply you can get an older version. Version 7 is great because you also get animation shop, great for making flashy web buttons and glittery stuff lol!

Edit: actually there are a couple of older ones on there with no bids!

I'm not a member of ebay though, I have never really felt comfortable using it although one of my daughters uses it regular. I could think about joining though. I would buy if necessary after all whats the point having a nice printer not to get the best use out of it.

The software with my canon pixma mp610 seems pretty good really and I've looked again and it lets you select any pre set sizes to fill part or all of the paper or it does let you select several different photos to fill the whole sheet of paper you are using but then they all have to be the same size. But I like things like this to be exact so I will need software to resize and keep aspect ratio like you said.

I might have a try of this one, if its not suitable I can just uninstal. It doesnt say anything about setting a layout but from the diagrams on there it does seem to have a resizing with aspect ratio on it for photos so its at least something

I'd actually use microsoft word to do this, make a table and define the size of each cell.

I don't know that much about word apart from basic stuff although I remember using it once before for something similar but I didnt use cells.

I just had a go and it looks like something that will take me a while to sort out, its the sizing of each cell but I suppose once youve got the hang of it its ok.
    Thanx
