You get what you pay for. £40.00 is not a sustainable fee for an energy assessor (costs £7 just to lodge with accreditation body, then PI insurance, then petrol etc). Hardly worthwhile. I would hope that he didn't do a drive by EPC, and actually went into the property, measured up, accessed the loft space, measured and looked for additional/retrofitted insulation, assessed the heating system and controls throughout the property and advised on expected outcomes?0 -
Well, I paid £69 to epc world today.

Despite their Home page stating Full UK Coverage, I got a phone call from them later, stating that they will have to refund my payment as they Don't cover Scotland.0 -

I am a chartered surveyor in Scotland. Based in Edinburgh and Galashiels, we are a firm of chartered surveyors specialising in residential letting, property management and property investment.
As a chartered surveyor I am already eligible to carry out EPCs. I will be doing them from the end of January.
I will be happy to carry out EPCs in Edinburgh and surrounding areas AND The Borders as we have some property down there.
As a Regulated Firm of Chartered Surveyors we will provide a professional service at all times.
I will be charging £65 for 1 bed properties plus £15 per additional bedroom. No VAT.
In Scotland the Government has an agreement with some protocal bodies and their members are able to complete EPCs - the main one of these is the RICS of which we are members.
Anyone mentioning Domestic Energy Assessors is talking about England where the situation is different.
If prudryden is watching and is using John Sale then that would make sense as they love to make huge fees from each landlord. You might want to look at clangordon.co.uk - we cover Galashiels and surrounding areas with a local agent and have straightforward fees and better results.
