Hi,
I need to obtain an EPC (Enegy Performance Certificate) this month and have been searching for best prices on offer. :money:
http://www.epcworld.co.uk/
epc world appear to charge a flat domestic rate of £60+vat.
As they are based in London but advertise to carry out nationwide reports, and I'm up in in Scotland, I'd like to know if anyone has had dealings with them?
Thanks.

I currently have my house on the market and I've been told by my estate agent that I need to get an energy report before 4/1/09. I do not require the full home report as my property was on the market prior to 1/12/08, when the legislation arrived in Scotland. I apparently DO however require the energy report, asap.

The company that I have mentioned appear to be the cheapest that I can find.
I would appreciate any opinions from MSEr's regarding my options.
This is not spam. I can assure you.0 -
EPCs can only be produced by accredited energy assessors

Why not contact a Domestic Energy Assessor direct? You will find that most EPC 'companies' will be creaming a commission off the top and the DEA will be left with a pittance. You can search the official list of energy assessors from the Landmark site at www.hcrregister.com. (I think the site is being updated today - sorry)0

Hi,
I live in the Borders and my estate agent has assured me that I need to obtain an EPC prior to 4/1/09, as that is when it becomes European law.
The estate agent has offerer to arrange one for me, wait for it,
they charge a £50 + vat arrangement fee, plus the company carrying out the survey charge £145 + vat. I believe the survey takes about an hour, and it appears it will cost me over £200 going with them, so I am attempting to arrange my own.
As it has to be done this month, I mentioned the epc company as their original quote of £69 including vat seems perhaps too good to me, in comparison to my local option.0 -

Thanks, your' link appears to have an English and a Welsh flag, but no Scottish, that could be my problem as this whole energy cert' business only arrived here on Monday (1/12/08), I believe it may have been introduced in England on 1/12/07, but I may be wrong.
As I previously explained I don't need a full home report as my property was on the market prior to 1/12/08, I only need to source the EPC (energy part).0 -

Is there any way that I could find out whether these guys are accredited energy assessors to issue EPC's in Scotland?
http://www.epcworld.co.uk/
Apart from their own claims on their website, that is.0 -
I believe that those accredited with BRE are able to undertake assessments in Scotland - although the last methodology updated that I did, did cover EPCs for Scotland and Northern Ireland (RdSAP 9.82).
Taken from the CIBSE website:
Dwellings - SAP 2005 (Scotland)
There is no specified qualification for energy assessors in Scotland. However, the Scottish Government has entered into protocol with professional organisations/institutions, such as CIBSE and the BRE, whose members already have an understanding of the building/energy sectors. Only members of protocol organisations may produce EPCs for existing buildings.0 -

I received an email from my letting agent, a well known national firm, offering EPC'S at £98 + vat. My assumption is that they are splitting the proceeds with the assessors at about 75%/25%. That, to me, would probably be a reasonable split.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0 -

My assumption is that I would be paying double your' quote through my estate agent, if an EPC can be obtained for £98 + vat.
As they seem to have doubled the fee and then split it 75%/25% surely.
£50 + £145 + vat@15% = £224.25.0
