SPV C550 - bundled version of Office? Other PIM to use with it?

I was told by someone selling the old SPV C500 that it comes bundled with an edition of Microsoft Office for use on you PC so you can sync it with the phone.

Is this true? More importantly, is this also the case with the SPV C550? (since I have just ordered one payg from Orange).

If the SPV C550 doesn't come with bundled office software for PC, then what PIM software is there that I can sync with the phone? I don't fancy paying a massive amount for Office when currently I use Palm Desktop and that works ok for me, but I very much doubt it will sync with the SPV C550 (or will it?)

Can I install some third party software on the SPV C550 which will sync with a program on my PC?

The SPV C550 uses Microsoft Activesync. You can download it free from here.

Often you get a version of Microsoft Outlook to use as the PIM but not the whole office suite

if u mean office suite as in document readers....MS don't make a version for smartphones.

look for ClearVue's Office Suite....it's a variety of smartphone progs that allow you to read .doc, .rtf, .xls etc etc files on the SPV

No, sorry, I should have said 'Outlook' not Office. So my question is... does the SPV C550 come with a bundled version of Outlook for the PC?

Outlook Express is free. You can download it onto your PC from here.

Use Ativesync to then sync your SPV C550 and your PC.

Thanks funk phantom. I guess really though I'm looking for something that does calendar, to-do list. Does anyone know if the SPV c550 comes with the full Outlook? I don't fancy paying full whack for it!

The SPV C550 already has Windows Mobile loaded on it. This has a scaled down version of Outlook built-in.

It's definitely true with the C500 (and the original SPV), I think it was Outlook 2002 that it came with. Couldn't categorically say that the C550 does, but would be extremely suprised if it didn't.
