Getting a kitchen

we have just ordered our kitchen from http://www.kutchenhaus.co.uk/ in manchester - they are also fitting it for £1400 which i thought was good, plus the designer we used was really helpful and advised us to go and buy some of the appliances from elsewhere as they were better value. All the units are delivered builts, so for someone capable at DIY it could be even better value (unlike me!)0

Having fitted kitchens for over 10 years, i still say that MFI are the best for value
The carcases at Howdens are the same as MFI, 18mm and already built up for you

Just don't go for Ikea... The carcuses are flat backed making them a nightmare to fit around pipework.0

We bought our last kitchen from Wickes and it was a faultless service. Not too expensive either as they will taylor make it to what you need.
They also don't deliver the kitchen until everything is ready (about 4 weeks)and when it does get delivered they tick everything off the delivery note as they bring it in so that you know you're not missing anything, we had one damaged panel - we phoned them and they delivered it by courier two days later free of charge.

So which is best to buy the kitchen from MFI or Howdens? does Howden stock all the ranges from MFI?

Don't know if this helps but we had our kitchen designed and built by John Lewis and it was cheaper than the quotes we had from Magnet and Moben. The designer they (JL)sent was very helpful and listened whereas the others were really just pushy salesmen trying to get us to buy all the fancy units and the bells and whistles that will break in a few years (but will boost the price immediatley!). The fitter was also excellent. He told us that to get accredited for JL work he had to provide proof of workmanship, customer satisfaction etc.
A complete new kitchen, fitted, with appliances (except fridge and washing machine we already had) came in at 7.5 k both Moben and Magnet were over 10k for less good designs and worse products. Beforehand I would not have believed it could have worked out cheaper with Jl but it did and they were great to deal with all the way through the process. It felt like being a valued customer rather than just the next mug about to be fleeced!Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -

hmm very interesting, glad to see I've followed most of this advise, hate being wise after the event. However its day 2 and the place is still a bombsite so fingers crossed it will all come together!0 -
A good place to look is the carpenters forum on screwfix0
